I had the sweet chili chicken wings at The Fieldhouse Bar & Grill back in June of 2014 and they were really good. The Fieldhouse has an extensive food menu with lots of choices on it and they’re going to be revamping the whole menu in February. Right now they have twelve different styles of wings, but they’re going to be adding a new flavor when the menu changes-up in February and we’ve been invited to try a preview portion of this new flavor of wings. So let’s go see what this is all about!
Here we are at The Fieldhouse, I know this because it says so right there on the front of the building. I notice things like that, it’s what I do!
Okay, let’s go in and start our seventh week of wings!
You can seat yourself and there’s a Bloody Mary bar in here on Sunday afternoons...
And there’s the regular bar over here. Let’s go seat ourselves and let this winged afternoon begin!
Here’s the pretty bartender of the day, Lauren serving up the pre-wing beer!
My friend Steve showed up to check out this new flavor of wings that will be available here in February. Lauren placed the order and had to get busy...
Filling up some draft beer orders!
Here’s the seven taps behind the bar. There’s actually eight, but one of the kegs ran dry.
And if you’re into bottled and canned beer, there’s plenty of domestic and craft beers to choose from in these coolers on either side of the taps.
Here’s the chalk board with the monthly specials displayed on it. The chalk art is done by Mary Kelly who we met on this visit to The Fieldhouse. I’m friends with Mary’s dad, Kevin, the owner of Kevin Kelly Jewelers. You can check out a post that I did from Kevin Kelly Jewelers right here!
There’s a large dining room and tables behind and opposite the bar. As you can see, they pack them in here on Sundays and there’s plenty of TV’s to catch all the Sunday sports action.
After I took that last shot I heard someone call my name and it’s Katy and Phil who we met on the 4th of July last summer at The Peoria Riverfront Museum BBQ Party. They told me that they recently got engaged and they’re going to be married in May! I asked if I could come and do a blog of the wedding and they said I could, so stay tuned to see if that actually happens! Congratulations, Katy and Phil!
Wooden booths line the far wall and I’m guessing that Christmas tree in the corner is coming down this week.
The Fieldhouse is named for the Bradley Fieldhouse and here’s several Bradley basketball jerseys hanging on the wall.
This is a painting of the first Bradley Braves Men’s Basketball team from 1950-1951. The gold plaque below it lists the players names and Willard T. Waugh who is the artist who painted it. Very cool!
There’s a large room in the back and it can be rented out for private parties.
Meanwhile, back at the bar, I think the chicken wings are about to be served. And check this out, Lauren’s mom, Anne was sitting next to me at the bar and didn’t want her photo taken. But I got her in this shot while she was checking out her phone. Smile, Anne, you’re on MBIP Candid Camera!
And I was right, it’s chicken wing time and here’s Danielle and Lauren serving them up and looking gorgeous while doing so!
The wings look pretty gorgeous themselves! This new flavor is called, “Carolina Reaper,” and the wings are made with a sauce made with the infamous Carolina Reaper hot peppers, which are supposedly the hottest pepper in the world!
Now is the time for the all-important cooling process where I can have...
Another beer!
I thought the wings would be really mind-blowing hot, but they’re not. They have a nice spicy flavor and the heat slowly creeps up on you. They’re hot, but not over the top hot and they’re cooked perfectly. Very flavorful and juicy!
Steve agreed with me and told me he’s fussy about chicken wings, but said he really enjoyed these wings.
Weekly bones and napkins shot!
Here’s Jim, who’s the kitchen manager here at The Fieldhouse and the creator of this new flavor of wings. I thanked him for some great wings and for the fact that we got to sample them before anyone else!
And for dessert I let Lauren pick out a specialty beer for me...
She picked a Blueberry Blonde beer, perfect choice and it was delicious! Thanks to Lauren and everyone at the Fieldhouse for the nice hospitality and excellent chicken wings and to Steve for joining me and hanging out on this seventh week of wings! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
Chicken Wing Rating
Four Wings Guitar Picks—You can’t try the Carolina Reaper wings till February when the menu is revamped, but I suggest you go and sample them then! I’ve also had the sweet chili wings and those were really tasty and Lauren said her favorite is the dry rub, I need to come back and sample those some time!
