It’s hard to believe, but the last time we went to Peoria Hofbrau was back in August! I’m still trying to complete my World Beer Tour and get my name on a gold plaque on the wall and at this rate that isn’t going to happen till that Zager and Evans year of 2525! Time to get over there and get a few more beers under my belt for my World Beer Tour. And I’ve invited some of the weekend MBIP Contributing Writers to join me, as a matter of fact...
Here’s one of them behind the wheel, Scott Turley! Here we go winding our way downtown to...
Peoria Hofbrau! I love this place!
Let’s go in and see what’s happening in here this afternoon.
It’s always nice and dark in here and it always feels like nighttime and that’s a great thing!
Here’s the friendly and hospitable Hofbrau daytime shift behind the bar: Andy, Vanessa and Reid. Great to see all of them again!
As usual, Vanessa’s going to be in charge of my Hofbrau World Beer Ticket and pick out the beers for me. We’ll have the stats from this visit at the end of the post. Keep on scrolling!
The dining room is all filled up, but that’s okay...
We have our own reserved table up front and there’s Scott at the head of the table!
And now we’re joined by another Contributing Writer, Chip Joyce. Chip’s been busy lately as he’s directing The Best LIttle Whorehouse at Peoria Players Theatre. The play is going to run from February 5th to the 14th. Click here for more information on The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas at The Peoria Players Theatre.
This is it for our Contributing Writer’s group as Bob Gordon was busy with Acme Comics stuff and couldn’t make the luncheon. Here we are lined up and ordering lunch up at the front counter.
I started off with a bowl of the homemade chicken noodle soup. The Hofbrau has some of the best soup in town and I always start off lunch with a bowl of it.
And here’s our luncheon entrees, from top: Chip got the prime rib sandwich, Scott got the special of the day, the meatloaf sandwich and I got an order of the Hofbrau Nachos.
These are the best nachos in town. My friend Lisa turned me on to them and I’ve been enjoying them ever since! Thanks for the tip, Lisa!
Vanessa took a shot of us at our table after lunch was over. Chip had to get back to work, so Scott and I got back to...
The bar!
Here’s the back of the bar and you can see Spuds Mackenzie standing guard back there!
They have a dozen rotating beers on tap up here at the bar.
Bryan and Chet were sitting next to us at the bar and Bryan told me he reads MBIP on a regular basis. Both Bryan and Chet work in the beer industry, Chet’s works for Church Street Brewing Company and Bryan works for Baumgarten Distributing Company.
Bryan’s completed several world tours here at Hofbrau and here he is pointing to his last plaque, which is a tribute to Church Street Brewing Company.
I love all the beer mugs, signs and knick-knacks that are scattered all over Peoria Hofbrau. It's always fun wandering around looking at all of this memorabilia!
Meanwhile, back at the bar, here’s Peoria Hofbrau regular, Bob Whitaker showing his latest World Beer Ticket. He’s on his 135th beer tour! No wonder he’s got a whole wall of gold plaques here at the Hofbrau!
I was going off on a rant about smart phones and Stacy proudly showed me that she’s still a flip phone user! I love that!
Here’s Tiffany just starting her shift as night is starting to fall. She’s looking pretty as always!
Alex, the friendly night shift bartender pours the final beer of the day. Cheers!
Danke Schon, Peoria Hofbrau! Thanks to everyone at the Hofbrau for another great day of food, beer and fun! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
