Live from Peoria, Illinois it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s hosts, Los Jimadores and One World Cafe, with three and a half handfuls of guest stars and featuring The Ready For Prime Beef Player, Marty Wombacher. Now please welcome tonight’s hosts, on bustling Main Street...Los Jimadores and One World Cafe!
I’m meeting friends later tonight at One World, but thought I’d have a few pre-drinks here at the Campustown location of Los Jimadores. I’ve been to the University location before, but never stopped in at this one. I thought I’d check it out tonight with a drink or two and maybe we’ll stop back later for a full meal in a few weeks.
Let’s go in and begin our Saturday night on Main Street!
It’s very nice in here, I was wondering if there was a bar in here and...
Houston, we have a bar in the back! And it’s very festive looking, let’s go grab a chair and settle in.
One of the Saturday night specials tonight is 27 ounce margaritas for six bucks! Such a deal! Here’s bartender and co-owner of Los Jimadores, Santiago serving up a gargantuan lime margarita. I’m getting a brain freeze attack just looking at this monster of a tequila drink! Cheers!
Emma was sitting down at the other end of the bar sipping on a regular sized drink and looking prettier than anyone has a right to, so I just had to snap a photo of her!
A colorful hand-painted round table sits directly behind the bar with booths lining the wall behind it.
There’s more hand-painted tables in the center of the dining room and another line of booths face the opposite wall in here.
Steve said hi and told me he’s a regular reader of MBIIP which is always nice to hear. Steve owns the building on Main Street that Ribbon Records moved into and I told him we plan on stopping in there soon, so stay tuned for that!
Meanwhile, back at the bar, check out Dee! Is Dee the cutest person in the world or what? I’m going to ask her to marry me the next time I’m in here!
And now on to round two of the monster margaritas! Anna served up a “swirl” margarita which is a mix of the raspberry and Pina Colada flavors. It looks delicious!
And it is delicious, but I better leave after this one or I’ll be crawling over to One World. Let’s drink up before I get legless from these giant margaritas!
It’s a short jaunt from Los Jimadores to One World and here we are. See how this works?
We’re inside and I think I see two of the three friends I’m meeting for dinner at the bar. Let’s wander over there...
In the middle of my wandering I noticed some artwork from MBIP pal, Bob Whitaker which brought back memories of our Technicraft tour, where these prints were made.
Okay, I’ve found two of tonight’s dinner guests at the bar, Steve and Kathy! Great to see them, now let’s go get a table...
As we make our way to the host stand, we ran into Brian, who we met here way back in 2013! Good to see him and now we must keep moving or we’ll turn into statues and I hate it when that happens!
Here’s Anthony and Sophie at the host stand and Sophie said she’d take us to our table, nice!
Sophie leads the way and here’s where we’re going to be seated. Perfect!
As soon as we sat down, Jessie came up to take our drink order. I last saw Jessie in 2014 when she was bartending and marveled at her rings. Sadly she doesn’t wear them when she’s waitressing, but you can check them out at this aforementioned post.
Jessie recommended we start out with the Spinach and Artichoke dip and I have to admit I wasn’t too thrilled about ordering it, but when it arrived my sentiments took a 180 degree turn, it looks and smells so good!
Holy freaking moley! This is so tasty, creamy-melty and fabulous! You can read more about it in the review below, but trust me when I tell you, this dip is like a little bowl of heaven on ecstasy!
Shortly after the dip arrived to the table, so did the fourth guest star of the evening, Clare! Hooray, we’re all here now and the evening is officially underway!
Here’s the other side of the dining room...
I met a quartet of pretty women while wandering around and they were just finishing up their dinner. They’re all Bradley students and their names are (from left): Antiza, Mary, Emma and Kayla. They all come from different cities and said they enjoy being in Peoria, wonderful to meet all of them!
This is the side of the dining room where we’re sitting, that’s our table off to the left in the middle of the picture.
Here’s Kathy and Clare showing off their index finger. I haven’t seen such blatant index finger posing since the MBIP Bowling Party back in June! #Danielle
And here’s our Saturday night dinner! Everything was wonderful and thanks to everyone at Los Jimadores and One World Cafe for the great drinks, food and hospitality! And further thanks to Kathy, Steve and Clare for hanging out on this fun Saturday night! Have a great Labor Day everyone and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
My Meal
Clare, Kathy and Steve all raved about their dishes, but I didn’t sample any of them, so I can’t go on record as to how they tasted, but all the meals looked fabulous! Clare had the Tomato Melt, Kathy had the Mediterranean Cheesy Bread and Steve had the Tabouli Salad. None of us had the Hummus, because we’re waiting for Parvona to come back to town to have that. (Inside joke alert!)
I had The Chinese Egg Rolls and they were a tasty delight! The egg rolls are plump and stuffed with cabbage, carrots, rice noodles, and shrimp. They’re fried crispy on the outside and the ingredients are juicy and succulent on the inside.
The real treat of the night however was the appetizer. Jessie recommended the spinach and artichoke dip and I have to admit, I wasn’t too excited about it till it arrived and it looked and smelled so fantastic! And it tasted even better! The spinach and artichokes swim in a sea of melted cheese, spices and a creamy Alfredo type sauce and you dip it up with toasted baguette slices. It is so good adjectives fail me. Just trust me, the next time you go to One World, order this, you may order a second serving for your main course!

Four Galloping Gourmets—For the Spinach and Artichoke Dip alone. It is so good it made me forget about anything else I’ve ever eaten there! You have to try this before you die. And if you die right after reading this and don’t have a chance to order it...well, tough fucking luck for you!
