Rhodell Brewery recently moved into the old Murray building. We did an MBIP post from the former location on Water Street back in May of 2014, click here to see that post. I thought tonight we’d check out the new Rhodell’s Brewery in the building formerly known as Murray's on Walnut Street. Usually at this point, I’d say, “To the MBIP Mobile,” but that’s not the case tonight because...
MBIP pal, Contributing Writer and owner of Acme Comics, Bob Gordon is driving us to drink tonight! Hooray for Bob!
And into the night we go!
Here we are at the new Rhodell Brewing location in the back of the Murray Building on Walnut Street! It’s really cool looking and they have their own large parking lot, which makes things handy as sometimes parking downtown can be a hassle.
Let’s go in and see what’s happening in here on this fine Thursday evening!
The bar is filled up, but if you look closely to the left, you’ll see that Bob has secured us two seats at the end of the bar. What a guy! Let’s go join him at the bar and get this night underway with a beer or three!
Ask and ye shall receive! Here’s friendly bartender Matt delivering up that aforementioned beer!
All the beer here is brewed on the premises and this is a Honey Vanilla beer and it’s so good!
Here’s the view from where we’re perched at the end of the bar.
There’s another bartender on duty, and no offense to Matt, but she’s a little cuter than he is, so let’s call her over and say hi to her...
Hi! This is Lindsay, who’s looking pretty holding up the MBIP card! She’s worked for Rhodell’s for over three years and said things have been going great in the new location. She also informed us that in addition to brewing their own beer here, they also make homemade Root Beer, Cream soda and Raspberry Cream soda.
I like the wooden slats hanging over the top of the bar, this place has a nice rustic feel to it.
There’s wooden tables opposite the bar...
And more over here behind the front windows looking out on downtown Peoria and the riverfront.
A pool table is located over in this corner of the bar.
International flags fly from the ceiling.
T-shirts and Rhodell's souvenirs are sold in this glass case located directly across from the side of the bar.
Here’s a PJ Star article about the move down the street. And check out that headline, I’m not the only one in town delivering bad puns!
And speaking of the brewery, here’s part of it, over here near the far wall of the bar.
More beer is being brewed over here...
And I’m guessing these bags contain hops and barley and other beer-like brewing ingredients. Of course it might just be bags of salt for the upcoming winter...winter? Aahhhhhh!
There’s more brewing devices over in this corner.
Okay, now they’re blinding me with science, let’s get back to the bar!
Lindsay told me that at the former Rhodell’s location on Water Street, it was strictly beer at the bar, but at the new place they have specialty liquors and wines available for all of you non hop-heads out there.
But for those of you into locally brewed beer, there’s plenty here to satisfy your thirst!
While I was behind the bar, I took a shot of “Massachusetts” Mike holding up a bottle of Butch’s Pizza seasoning. Mike had never had a Butch’s Pizza and said it was the best pizza he’s ever had in his life! This brought back memories of our Butch’s Pizza Party at the Red Barn last January!
Jon and Lindy were seated next to Mike. It turns out that Lindy is a cousin to Amy Poehler! I can see the family resemblance! Okay, time for me to get back on the other side of the bar!
Cheers! Thanks to Bob for driving and hanging out and to Matt and Lindsay for great service, beer and hospitality at the new Rhodell’s Brewery! We’ll see you all tomorrow...and hey, let’s be careful out there!
