The very last post I did here on MBIP before I took my break in February was from Rizzi’s on Sheridan. I think that now since the blog is back in full swing, it’s time for a return visit and so it’s off we go. But we’re not traveling in the MBIP Mobile tonight, we’re...
Traveling with this mysterious woman cloaked in shadows, who on earth is this person?
It’s my friend, Amber, who’s looking pretty tonight as she’s once more literally driving me to drink! I love her for that! Onwards we roll to...
Rizzi’s on Sheridan. It’s a lot warmer than the last time we were here and I’m grateful for that!
I took this shot for the top title shot of the post and I’m including it here because I think this is the first double obligatory mirror shot that the MBIP camera has ever taken! There’s me and Amber both in the shot and this really makes me happy. Yes, I’m easily pleased. Okay, we’ll move along and quit obsessing over this eventuality.
Except for the fact that it happened again on my standard, “let’s go inside” shot! Love the double obligatory mirror shots!
There’s a decent crowd in here tonight, but plenty of seats at the bar, so that’s where we’re headed.
We landed right there where Amber is seated. All we need now is a beer and this evening will be officially started!
But bartender Chad is a little busy right now, so...
We’ll stare at these shiny glasses hanging overhead. Shiny glass equals goodness! I’ve always loved staring at shiny glass—you can literally while away hours doing this. And I have! Shine on you crazy glasses!
Okay, Chad’s got all his drink orders filled and here he is serving me up a Peroni and he was actually happier about it than he looks in this photo. Sometimes the MBIP camera catches a weird expression that doesn’t really match the moment. But what are you going to do?
This is our view of the back of the bar at Rizzi’s.
Here’s a side shot of the bar in all of its wonderful glory.
Blue leather stuffed booths line both walls of the restaurant.
Usually I hate it when the MBIP camera fuzzes out on me, but I kind of like the fuzzy and wuzzy look of these water pitchers. Love the MBIP camera!
Meanwhile, back at the bar, it looks like dinner is about to be served!
We started off with the soup of the night which was tomato soup. It looks delicious, but I think it needs a little something...
And that something is pepper from a giganzo pepper grinder! See Chad grind...grind, Chad, grind! Hooray!
Perfect!
Amber and I also split an order of the Arancini fritters. This is probably my favorite dish on the menu at Rizzi’s. They’re deep fried fritters filled with creamy Ricotta cheese and swimming in a pool of rich and hearty homemade tomato sauce. They are so good!
And we also got an order of the Calamari. I think the Calamari here is the best in town, so tasty and I love the homemade dipping sauce it comes with. What a great dinner!
And for dessert I got a Manhattan and here’s Chad preparing it.
There’s the finished product!
Cheers from Amber and I and thanks to MBIP commentator and quote supplier, raginrr for buying this drink via the Virtual Beers PayPal link. If you’d like to help the cause and buy us a drink or a beer, you can do so by clicking right here and we’ll give you credit next Friday. Thanks to Chad and everyone at Rizzi’s for a great dinner and special thanks to Amber for driving and hanging out with me! We’ll see you all tomorrow and hey...let’s be careful out there!
