Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week's host, Lou’s Drive-In with special guest stars, The Women Of Lou’s and featuring The Ready For Prime Beef Player, Marty Wombacher. And now, all the way from Knoxville Avenue, please welcome this week’s host, Lou’s Drive-In!
We are off and zooming along at a walloping 33 miles per hour. Whoosh!
Okay, we’re here at Lou’s and I had to start the night off by doing the menu/Lou’s sign shot. However, when I looked at this I realized I made a mistake by not putting the menu off in front of the arrow. If you click on a certain link below (I’m not going to tell which one, you’re just going to have to find it yourself) you’ll see what I mean. This caused me considerable grief yesterday when I saw it and it continues on today and probably won’t stop till I find something else to obsess and hate myself over. Ugh! Let’s just move along now and pretend I’m not really this nuts.
There is the wonderful island/oasis known as Lou’s Drive-In! It’s been right here in the same spot on Knoxville since 1953.
Tables are set up in the front of the lot to sit at...
But I prefer to sit over here and watch the action going on at the island where the food is prepared and sent out. Let’s go snag a seat and get settled in!
And here’s my view from where I’m seated.
There’s two of the carhops over in the window placing orders to be filled.
I ordered a root beer and was lucky enough to have all three of these pretty women serve it up to me! I think this will be the first of a series of photos I’m going to call, The Women of Lou’s Drive-In! So here we go, The Women of Lou’s Drive-In Part One, from left: Maggie, Sam and Gabby.
Okay, I've placed my dinner order so now let’s take a walk around and take some photos of Lou’s Drive-In.
There’s a stack of trays waiting to be placed on car windows for the drive-up, curb service customers.
Some of the specials are displayed around the perimeter of the Lou’s Island.
There’s more over here in front. These signs and the way they’re lit up remind me of Coney Island. I sure miss that place in the summertime!
Here’s another shot of the Lou’s island/oasis from the other side.
The Women of Lou’s, Part Two: Lucy is filling bags at the popular popcorn machine and looking cute as a button while doing so!
The Women of Lou’s, Part Three: Lucy not only is in charge of the popcorn machine, she’s also doing double duty as a carhop, along with her pretty co-worker, Kierra.
Okay, I’m back at my seat and dinner has arrived. I love it when that happens! As you can see I got an order of onion rings, but what’s inside of the wrapper? Well, let’s take a look...
It’s a chili cheese dog with onions! Let’s dig in, I’m starvin’ like you know who!
The onion rings are perfectly cooked and crispy good!
The chili cheese dog with onions is fantastic and the bun is soft and bakery fresh. Love the food at Lou’s and the root beer is the best in town!
There’s the kitchen back there, let’s sneak in and give them thanks for a great meal...
Thanks for a great meal, Lou’s kitchen crew, you’re the best! Okay, let’s get out of here, it’s really hot back here! I mean I’m all for thanking people for a job well done, but when I start sweating, it’s time to move on!
There’s some cars waiting for curb service. Hey, if Lou’s can provide curb service, so can MBIP, let’s go... (Oh and the way that car is parked far away from the parking block is going to upset a certain friend of mine, you know who you are...Lou! Ha!)
Smile, you’re on MBIP Curb Service camera! That’s Mike and Kelli in their car with baby Nellie in the backseat. Great to meet them and now the curb service portion of this blog is over, let’s go sit back down.
It’s almost closing time and things are being cleaned up and put away, but there’s still time for...
One more, Women of Lou’s shot! The Women of Lou’s, Part Four: Laurie, the pretty owner of Lou’s Drive-In has just arrived to help with the closing and she poses flanked by Gabby and Maggie. Laurie was our Sunday Snapshot yesterday and if you missed that, you can click here and read a little more about her. I LOVE the Women of Lou’s! Thanks to all of them for a great evening and a wonderful dinner. We’ll see you all tomorrow!
I got the chili cheese dog with onions and an order of onion rings. Hey, it’s Lou’s, you can’t go wrong with a chili cheese dog and onion rings! Plus I got a large mug of their house-brewed root beer, best meal in the world! And it’s served by The Women Of Lou’s! Who could ask for anything more? Not me, that’s for sure!
