Live from Peoria Heights it’s Saturday Night with this week’s host, Noir Tapas & Rendezvous Lounge and Featuring the Ready For Prime Beef Player, Marty Wombacher. And, please welcome all the way from Restaurant Row in the Heights, this week’s host, Noir Tapas & Rendezvous Lounge.
It's a rainy old night as we head out on the town. At least it's not snow, that would come later. Have I ever mentioned here how much I fucking hate winter? Oh, good.
Here we are at the grandly lit-up space of Noir Tapas & Rendezvous Lounge. It's quite colorful out here.
Let's wipe the night's moisture and dirt from our boots and get ready to enter the building.
One door stands between us and the start of this adventure, let's open it and let it begin!
Okay, the evening has begun and we're inside. It's nice and dark in here, just the way I like it!
We met Georgie, who's the pretty General Manager here at Tapas, last March. Neither of us could believe that happened close to a year ago. As I always say, "Fun flies when you're having time."
Jackie was on bartending duty and she's the second of a trifecta of pretty women on today's post...
And to complete this trio of pretty women, here's MBIP friend and frequent sidekick, Amber enjoying a martini at the bar. Amber got there a little early to secure our seats at the bar and she's looking beautiful as always. We always have a ton of fun and I'm happy when we can hang out together.
This is our view from the colorful back of the bar.
This is just one of the displays of bottle set-ups behind the bar that are lit up and on display.
An elegant chandelier of electric candles swings from underneath the silver tin ceiling over the bar area.
Booths with more chandeliers flying over them are situated against the far wall opposite the bar.
There's tables in between the bar and the booths for drinking and dining.
There's party rooms for rent and wine flights here at Tapas. I don't know how they get wine bottles to fly and I really don't think I want to know that information. Some things are better left unsaid.
This sign has more information on the different rooms that can be rented out here for parties.
Here's a shot from the back of the room.
Meanwhile, back at the bar...
Our food has started arriving. The light was weird at the bar and this is the only picture that turned out. You can read more about the meal in the review below, but pictured here from the left is, fried cheese, a popover and a half a dozen deviled eggs. It looks great and doesn't fried cheese sound perfectly decadent?
After dinner we called out to Jackie at the end of the bar for the check...
Which was housed in this glorious mini treasure chest...
We opened it up and Gumby had picked up the check! He only dabbles in play money, so we still had to pay the bill, but it was a nice gesture on his part anyway. Thanks to everyone at Noir for a lovely evening and to Amber for joining me for the evening. We'll see you all tomorrow!
Our Meal
Neither Amber or I were starving last Saturday night, so we decided to sample a few dishes off of the Tapas menu. We chose the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp and Grilled Pineapple, Fried Manchego Cheese that comes with fruit and honey and an order of their housemade deviled eggs, which have a slightly sweet taste that is counteracted nicely with fresh smoky bacon bits on top. It was all really tasty and Georgie arranged for us to have two complimentary dishes, a bread popover that comes with two styles of flavor-infused butter and a tuna appetizer. Everything was prepared with care and bursting with flavors that played nicely with each other. My favorite of al the samplings was the Popover, which had a hard crust on the outside and pillowy fresh dough on the inside. Maybe I’m somehow related to Elwood Blues!
