Months ago I stopped in at the Navy-Marine Club in Peoria Heights for a rare daytime beer and it was really cool in there. Kind of like a little clubhouse. I had seen the place before and thought you had to be a member to get in, but it turns out you just ring a buzzer and you get in. So let’s go ring that buzzer and go there tonight.
Here we are at the Navy-Marine Club, it’s just off Prospect Road in Peoria, Heights.
And it’s open to the public, if you’re not a member, you just have to...
Ring the bell...
And poof, you’re granted an entrance and here we are. Let’s grab a seat and get a beer.
Mark, the friendly bartender is quick on the draw with a can of Budweiser, the night is off to a good start!
I’ve seen this guy before, it’s Mike who cooked us up our 39th pizza at Khaki Jack’s on the MBIP Year of Pizza tour. Great to see him again.
This is the trio of beers on tap at the Navy-Maine Club and if you look closely you can see that they have Joe’s Dogs on sale for a buck. This only happens on Saturdays, so I may have to call in sick some day to work to check them out.
Corey, Josh and Neil were enjoying drinks on the opposite side of the bar. Nice guys!
And they have Butch’s pizza here at the bar. Perfect!
The Daily Drawing is a nice random amount. Love that.
There’s tables lining the wall in front of the bar.
They have a daily buffet with multiple bags of chips and a sleeve of Ritz crackers. And we all know that everything tastes better when it sits on a Ritz.
The beer coasters in here are carpet squares, too cool!
The back hallway leads to...
A back room that can be rented out for parties. Maybe we’ll have an MBIP event in here someday, who knows?
Meanwhile, back at the bar...
If you buy a round of drinks for the bar you can see the new poker drink chips. So of course I had to buy a round and...
Here’s the new poker drink chips!
Love the chip!
After getting a chip, Mark told me that you can become a member of the Navy-Marine Club for 25 bucks. You get an official card that lets you in without ringing the buzzer and you have access to the parking lot. Well, this is a no-brainer...
I’ve joined! The first club that would ever suffer me as a member.
Pretty fucking proud of this moment! Thanks to everyone from last night, I really had a good time. We’ll see you all tomorrow...and hey, let’s be careful out there!
