Yesterday was Thanksgiving. Today it’s all over and I have to go to work later on today. But let’s just pretend like that isn’t going to happen and go backwards in time to yesterday’s Thanksgiving Festival of food, fun and family. And scroll down to see who won the MBIP Mileage Contest!
This is a selfie of me at around seven in the morning after about three and a half hours of sleep. I’m getting ready to put the MBIP blog post for the day together. I really hate this time of the day and spend most of it cursing the fact that I’m still alive.
Okay, two hours later and the post is all set to go. I’ll drink about a half a liter more of Arizona Green Tea, post this around 11am and then shower, drink more green tea and then have a few daytime beers and then it’s off to...
Jerry’s Bar! Okay, things are looking better now!
It’s down the familiar plaid stairway to...
Jerry’s Bar!
There’s the two friendly and smiling hosts of Jerry’s bar, Jerry and Anne! And check it out, they’re drinking Canadian Club straight out of the bottle! Hey, it’s Thanksgiving, why not?
Here’s a happier selfie than the one I took earlier! Fun times at Jerry’s Bar!
Okay, fast-forward to Terry and Phil’s house where we’re having our Thanksgiving dinner and I’m doing the snack tray. And before you see what I do here, I just want to remind everyone at home that you shouldn’t really attempt to recreate what I do here. I’m a board-certified Snackologist and if you try to copy my snackology efforts you will probably hurt yourself and those around you! And you might just put your eye out too.
Here it is, this year’s snack tray and I have to say, I think it’s some of the best work I’ve ever done!
And here’s everyone in Terry and Phil’s family room, enjoying the snacks! I’m taking the pictures and drinking a beer.
Jerry’s in charge of carving the turkey...
And he does a grand job of it every year! A true master-slicer!
I put the camera away for the meal but it was delicious! Thanks to Terry for preparing a wonderful meal!
Here’s our family, clockwise from left: Jerry, Yours Fooly, Tom, Terry and Anne. My brother Jim isn’t pictured because he’s away on a permanent holiday.
And here’s the Burroughs family, clockwise from bottom left: Terry, Phil, Matt, Mary Beth, young Tupac and Greg.
Last week we hand another MBIP facecrack contest, you can check it out right here. I was supposed to announce the winner last Wednesday and completely spaced it out! Before I announce the winner, I do want to show a comical moment that comes via this guess from Corey Shade:
Corey’s referring to the fact that in the last time we had a contest, I didn’t specify anything about going over the specific number, in this case the number of miles on the MBIP Mobile. Well, if I would’ve played it the way we did in the last contest, Corey would’ve won! But as you can see from the miles on the MBIP Mobile dashboard, he went over, and so...
Stuart Laughlin is the winner! His guess of 23,125 miles was the closest without going over! Congratulations, Stuart! You win the 50 dollar gift certificate from Acme Comics and a lunch of your choice with a guest or two, which will be posted on the MBIP Blog! Contact me on facecrack or email and we’ll get everything all set up! Thanks to everyone for playing and we’ll see you all tomorrow!

Petey
My friend Michelle told me that Petey died this morning at 1:37am. Petey was a lovable character in the West Peoria area and I’m glad I got to know him, drink with him and hear his jokes. He hasn’t been well for a while and Michelle did a great job of taking care of him and making sure these last few months were comfortable ones for him. She took these pictures of me and Petey on his birthday last year. Cheers to you, Petey, your memory lives on!
