Okay, the MBIP Six Weeks of Soup tour has come to a close and so it’s time to have a palate cleanser before we begin our next food tour and I’ll explain what that’s going to be at the end of this post. But for now we’re going to take a trip to Wyoming, Illinois for one more bowl of soup to have as a palate cleanser. To the MBIP Mobile!
The MBIP Mobile is swiftly headed towards Wyoming, Illinois and there’s not a cloud in the sky. Ugh, nothing to shield us from that rotten sunshine!
Here we are, I decided to come to One Eleven Coffee here in Wyoming because I’ve heard that they have a special soup here. I wasn’t able to fit it into the Six Weeks of Soup tour, so I thought I’d have it as a palate cleanser before we start our next marathon of food. Let’s go in, shall we?
Holy smokes, look at the crowd in here and it’s well past the lunch hour. One Eleven Coffee has become very popular and people are traveling here from neighboring towns to sample the food, desserts and coffee here.
And speaking of people traveling here, as I made my way up to the counter, someone called out my name...
It’s my friend Roxy! She came here to have lunch with her friends and what a pleasant surprise to run into her here! She’s here with her friends (clockwise from Roxy’s left): Kriss, Suz, Amy and Hank. And I think we all know what we have to cue up now!
Okay, back to the front counter and there’s Sheila and Rebekah smiling ever so pretty at us! I told Sheila I wanted to take a look around and I’d be back to order the palate cleanser. So let’s go take a look around in here!
The bicycle built for two on the wall is all decked out with lights and that can only mean one thing...
Christmas decorations! I’m not a big Christmas person, but this time of year you kind of have to surrender to it. Sheila told me that they have a Peanuts theme for their holiday decorations. Good grief!
Here’s all of the Peanuts characters on the tree, Woodstock, Linus, Lucy, Charlie Brown...hey wait, where’s Snoopy?
Settle down, he’s right over here serenading Woodstock on Schroeder’s piano. I think we can all breathe a little easier now!
Check out the very subltle unplanned obligatory mirror shot going on here. I think that by now we all know that I love it when that happens!
Meanwhile, back at the front counter...
There’s Stacy with yet another pretty smile for us! There’s miles of smiles here at One Eleven and I love that!
Stacy is actually the one who told me about this special soup they make here called “Zuppa Toscara.” She sent me a message on facecrack saying I should try it on the soup tour, but we were just about done with that and so I told her we’d come and try it as the palate cleanser before the next tour begins. And now here we are. How wonderful it is when a plan is fully realized like this! It makes you want to touch your toes!
We’re back in the kitchen area and Stacy is filling up a bowl with the aforementioned Zuppa Toscara soup. Wow, it looks delicious! Let’s let Stacy put the finishing touches on it while we find a place to eat the soup at.
Let’s go sit in the back room...
I like it back here, it’s got a warm log cabin, ski-lodge kind of feel to it.
Part of the warmth comes from this working fireplace back here that’s surrounded by comfy, plumply-stuffed black leather chairs and a couch.
Seated over at this table next to the far wall is Delores, Joe and their dog Jake. It’s very cool that One Eleven is pet friendly!
I’ve decided to sit right here at the head of this table and there’s absolutely nothing that anyone can do to stop me! I feel absolutely giddy with power over this decision!
Just as I settle in, here’s Stacy with the soup, perfect timing!
It looks and smells like heaven in a bowl! I’ve added a healthy shaking of pepper to it and it’s served with a bakery fresh roll. Let’s dig in!
This soup is well-worth the drive to Wyoming! It’s a cream-based soup with sausage, kale, onion and potato gnocchi. It is so hearty and satisfying, the gnocchi and sausage really make it special, so tasty, velvety-creamy and rich! It’s delicious.
Stacy told me she calls it, “a bowl of hugs,” I think it’s more like a “bowl of drugs,” because I’m addicted to it after just one loving spoonful!
The soup was so good but now I’m in the mood for something sweet, so let’s go check out what they’ve got back at the front counter.
There’s lots of pastries and muffins over here...
But I think I spy what I want in that bowl to the right...
Wow, this is sinfully sweet and decadent! It’s kind of like a Rice Krispy treat, but much more dense and the layer of chocolate on top takes it way over the top! The perfect ending to this palate cleansing post. Next week we start another Twelve Weeks of Chicken Wings food tour. There were so many places that we didn’t have a chance to get to with the first chicken wing tour, so we’re going to do twelve more weeks. Which will take us into 2016! If you have any suggestions on a place with really good wings let me know in the comments section here or on facecrack. We’ll see you all tomorrow!
