One World Cafe has been a semi-regular stop for food, drinks and fun here on MBIP. We’ve been there for pizza, a cheeseburger, chicken and waffles and just about a month ago I met some friends there for a variety of items off of the menu, but I’ve never had the soup there! And they’re known for their homemade soups which change on a daily basis. So let’s head over to One World and see what the soups of the day are for this, our third week in the Six Weeks of Soup tour!
And here we are at One World Cafe located on the somewhat controversial corner of University and Main Street. Let’s go in and begin week number three of six weeks of soup!
I’m meeting friends here, but as usual I’m crazy early...so what shall we do with this time we have on our hands?
Hmm...that t-shirt gives me an idea...
I think we’ll head over this way to...
The bar!
They have a lot of beers here on tap, but I decided to go old school...
And I got a Pabst tallboy from Peter the bartender.
Local artwork hangs on the wall here in One World, which is cool!
But as nice as it is to admire the art on the walls, we’re here for one thing and one thing only: Soup! Okay, we’re here for beer too, but we’re mainly here for soup. I might get an appetizer too, but really, the main thing I’m here for is soup...have I made that clear? Good! Check it out, one of tonight’s featured soups is Cheeseburger Chowder! I think I know what I’m having! Let’s go get a table!
So I wandered over to the hostess station and this lovely lady said she’d get me that table, in my excitement over the Cheeseburger Chowder, I forgot to write her name down though. I hate it when that happens, but what are you going to do?
It’s crowded in here, but the hostess not only found me a table, she found me a table that had...
Kathy and Steve Klister sitting at it! What a wonderful surprise and it’s also an exercise in deja vu as they were at this same table the last time we ate in here! Always great to see both of them!
And another person that’s wonderful to see is our cute waitress for the evening, Jessie who's happily displaying our drink order with an assist from Steve!
Last time we ate here, Jessie suggested the spinach and artichoke dip and I kind of bristled at the idea, but went along with her suggestion and it was the most fantastic dip I’ve ever had! We also got an order of the Chinese egg rolls to sample on before the soup arrives.
I love the Chinese egg rolls, but nothing’s better than this spinach artichoke dip! It comes to your table bubbling hot and it’s so rich, creamy and flavorful!
And now it’s soup time! Both Steve and Kathy got the Tomato Basil soup and while it looks tasty...
It’s no match for the Cheeseburger Chowder, which looks and smells out of this world. And a healthy dollop of pepper always helps make everything right in my world!
This is the first soup of the tour I’ve added crackers to, it just seemed the right thing to do and the soup was a cheeseburgerly delight! It’s a rich and hearty cheese soup with savory, seasoned ground beef. Jessie told us it’s one of the more popular soups here and I can see why!
For dessert we thought we’d try a seasonal drink on the menu, a pumpkin martini!
Jessie paired it up with this Sweet Potato Ale...
And it was delicious! Thanks to Steve and Kathy for hanging out with me and to Jessie for wonderful service and hospitality as always! And happy birthday to Laura! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
Soup Rating
Three and three quarter’s Soup Nazi’s: The Cheeseburger Chowder isn’t available every day, but when it is, you should definitely order it or you’re out of your fucking mind! How’s that for a fucking endorsement? Ha!
