I felt bad last year because I didn’t make it to Relics for a Christmas shopping post. I vowed to stop in after the new year and do a post on this great locally owned gift shop that has some of the most unique items in Peoria and beyond. And last week the timing was perfect. My niece Caylin turned 25-years-old last Friday and last Sunday we had a birthday party for her. We went out to eat and then came back to my parents house for birthday cake and the opening of her presents. And I think you know where I decided to shop for my birthday presents for Caylin! To the MBIP Mobile!
Here we are at Relics gift shop which is located on Glen right across from Schnucks grocery store.
It’s open, let’s go in and get shopping!
There’s a familiar face over there behind the counter...
Hello darling! It’s Laurie who we met on our first trip here to Relics, great to see her again!
Okay, time to find some gifts for Caylin. Hey, we’ll turn this into a little contest you can play at home: See if you can guess which gifts and card I picked out for Caylin from the following items I take pictures of. I’ll give you a hint, I picked three things for gifts and one card. Okay, put on your thinking caps and let’s shop till we plop.
There’s a great selection of cards here at Relics and the good news is that there’s not a single Hallmark card on the wall! Because I think we all know that Hallmark cards pretty much suck monkey lungs on toast!
This is super creepy in a good kind of way!
Ha! I love this one!
What a great idea for a book! You won’t find something like this out at the mall, you’ll only find a bitter, overweight mall cop on a Segway out there.
These guns and typewriters t-shirts make me think of Hunter Thompson.
Insert your own masturbation joke here.
There’s so much cool stuff to look at in here I could spend a week just looking around in wonderment.
I’m wondering what the 102nd thing would be? Whatever it is, you just know it’s illegal!
This is probably the only store in town that has copies of Found magazine, just one more cool thing about Relics!
Lincoln sucks...I mean socks!
The perfect gift for a Beatles fan.
Worse comes to worst, you can always get a Relics gift certificate and let them pick out the damn gift!
These bandages came out too late for Abe, but they're the perfect thing if you have a hole in your head!
I could spend all day exploring in here, but it's time to pick out my gifts and get going.
You're welcome!
Okay, fast forward to the birthday party! Here's Caylin's cake that came from Trefzger's Bakery. And now on to see what I picked out for my gifts from Relics.
Here's the birthday girl with her dad/my brother Tom behind her. As you can see I picked the death birthday card. If you picked that, give yourself seven points and touch your nose with a Webster's Dictionary.
And here's the opening of the presents, if you haven't guessed what I got her, you can still go back and do it now!
I got her the trilogy of Abraham Lincoln gifts. If that's what you guessed, well, Don Pardo tell them what they've won...oh wait, Don Pardo's dead. Well, I guess you don't win anything. Happy birthday Caylin and we'll see you all tomorrow!
