Last May we had an excellent lunch at the grill in Cam’s parking lot, presented by the joint duo of Sean, owner of Kenny’s Westside Pub and Clay who owns Cam’s. Well the two of them have put their heads together and a new bar has risen inside of the building that used to house the aforementioned Cam’s. It’s a country-themed nightclub and restaurant with the ingenious name of: The Country Club. There’s a full food (Southern style BBQ) and drink menu and I thought that tonight we’d go and try a few of their new signature drinks off the drink menu and then a week from now we’ll come back and have dinner here and sample the food. Are you ready for the Country...Club? Okay, I have a powerful thirst built up, so let’s get moving!
Here we are at The Country Club, neon in every window, love it so far!
Bud and BBQ, I'm all in for that, let's go check it out.
We're not even in the door yet and I see a familiar face behind the front desk up there...
Those of you who've been following my year long pizza tour may recognize tht gentleman on the right, it's Zach who made us a pizza pie at Norwood Pub 'N' Grub back in May. Great to see him again and that's Colin on the left. Colin said that it's been going great since they opened and people are raving about the food. This Sunday is all you can eat wings for ten bucks starting at 11AM.
The front bar is shiny and impressive, let's belly up to the bar and get the first drink of the evening.
And here's Travis and Caleb serving that drink up. I got a Blueberry Moonshine Shakeup and it's delicious with a nice kick to it.
As you can see, it's a well stocked bar and if you're a whiskey and bourbon fan you've hit the jackpot in here. There's twenty selections to choose from, a veritable Whiskey River!
There's a nice selection of beers on tap and check out the tap in the middle...
1919 Draft Root Beer! I need to sample this before I leave tonight.
I've wandered over to the other side of the bar and I see two familiar faces...
It's the Country Club hosts and owners, Clay and Sean! They said the reaction to the bar has been great. It's a new flavor of a nightclub/restaurant for Farmington Road and people are appreciating it. Since they open at 11AM with a full menu, they said they're getting a nice lunch crowd as well as a decent nighttime crowd.
Okay, enough talk, let's put Sean to work. He's mixing me up The Country Club Margarita.
Service with a smile! The drinks are fantastic, I'm really looking forward to sampling the food in a week.
The Country Club is equal parts bar and restaurant, so there's plenty of tables opposite the bar to enjoy your BBQ dinner at.
Here's two picnic tables over by the side windows for large groups of diners.
Love this Shiner sign that hangs over the picnic tables! Live music tonight from The Above The Law Band!
There's a pool table, darts and...
A classic shuffleboard table in the game room up front here opposite the bar.
There's a vintage sign from Peoria's Western clothing store past!
All the meat used in the BBQ here is locally supplied by Raber Packing Company, here's a nice shot of the company from decades ago.
This is Sean's favorite picture in the bar. He said he found it in the basement as they were getting ready to open up for business. I'm going to name it, Ernest Tub.
DJ EVO is spinning the tunes tonight. It's a nice mix of old and new school country with some outlaw country thrown in for good measure. Love the White Folks Get Crunk sticker up there!
Follow the arrow to...
The lit-up wooden dance floor. Nice!
Here's the second bar in the back. I think it's time for...
A frosty mug of that 1919 Draft Root Beer. Here's bartender Chuy pouring it.
Sean told me that the inspiration for having this on their taps selection came from Katie McButts, which featured 1919 Draft Root Beer on their extensive line of taps. Katie McButts recently closed its doors for good, so you can come here for a Katie McButts memory.
They've got one of the best beer gardens in town back here, let's go check it out.
There's a full house at the bar back here in the beer garden...
I see some familiar faces over there...
It's my friend, Kitty, her husband Robby, who's Clay's Dad and Clay's girlfriend Micah, who we met way back when we came here when it was still Cam's. It's a family affair!
A parting shot of some shots in little Mason jars! We'll see you all tomorrow and hey...let's be careful out there!
