I got a facecrack message from MBIP pal and frequent guest star, Michelle that another MBIP pal, frequent guest star and singer/songwriter, Gavra Lynn was going to be playing tonight at the Tartan Inn. It’s been a while since we’ve gone and seen Gavra pickin’ and a grinnin’ so let’s make tracks over to the Tartan Inn in beautiful West Peoria!
We are off and blazing along at a spine-tingling 15 MPH! Vroom and vroom!
And here we are at The Tartan Inn, a classic West Peoria neighborhood tavern.
I don't hear any music, Gavra must be taking a break, let's go inside and see what's happening.
Hey, where is everybody? I do spy a couple of familiar faces down there at the end of the bar, let's go say hello and see where Gavra and everyone is...
Here's Joanne and Banjo, two regulars here at The Tartan Inn, they told me that they didn't hear anything about Gavra playing here tonight. Hmmm....
This is the corner where it's usually cleared out for a stage area when Gavra plays here. It's not cleared out tonight...
Here's two of Gavra's specially made hula hoops that she sells, but she's nowhere in sight.
Every Sunday they have an open mic night here for any and all musicians to come and jam, I need to stop by and check this out one of these weeks. Hey, what's that sign over there to the left...
It's a poster for Gavra's next performance here which is October 8th, not tonight! Okay, one of two people fucked up here, either Michelle did or I read her message wrong. I told Joanne and Banjo that if Michelle fucked up, I was really gong to give her shit on the blog. Of course maybe I read it wrong and if so, well everyone makes a mistake now and again, we'll see when I get home. Right now I think it's time for...
A beer! And here's friendly bartender Zach serving it up in his Tartan Inn shirt. Zach said he appreciates how I'm anti-chain store and chain restaurant on the blog and suggested that I try the BBQ at Whitey's in East Peoria. He said they have the best chicken wings around. Duly noted and we'll have to stop in there down the road.
I realized that the taps are completely different than the last time I was in here and Zach told me that they regularly switch out the taps in here to keep the variety of drafts and craft beers new and fresh.
Here's three more over here...
Here's the hump day specials of the week.
Hey, I think I see a blast from our pizza pie past over there behind the bar...
It's Jon who we met at Peoria Pizza Works on our third week of our Year of Pizza! It turns out that Jon bartends here at The Tartan Inn. Okay time to cue this up and get it over with already!
In addition to the craft beers on tap, they've got a nice selection of bottled beers over here behind the bar.
Here's a full shot of the back of the well-stocked bar.
Bad Brad, an iconic West Peoria fellow has just come in and he and Banjo are joking around down here at the end of the bar.
And as I finish my second beer, I give you this Johnnie Johnson moment of Zen. Okay, let's go back to MBIP Headquarters and see who screwed up this Gavra Lynn evening, me or Michelle...
Here's Michelle's facecrack message...whoops-a-doozy, looks like it was me that misread this message! Oh well, mistakes, like shit, happen. Just ask the aforementioned Johnnie Johnson! Okay my calendar is marked for October 8th at The Tartan inn and I hope yours is too! We'll see you there for Gavra's next show in less than a month! And we'll see you all tomorrow...and hey, let's be careful out there!
