I don’t know how long the Friendly Valley Tap has been in business, but it seems like forever. It’s certainly a classic Peoria bar. I did a post from there on St. Patrick’s day back in 2013, so I’d say we’re overdue for a visit! To the MBIP Mobile!
We are rolling along at a comfortable cruising speed of 32 MPH towards The Friendly Valley Tap.
Here we are, The Friendly Valley Tap. It's the only bar in Peoria that's a Quonset hut.
Let's go in and see what's happening in The Valley tonight.
Nice and dark in here, an Al bar for sure! It's tough to get a wide shot of the bar because of the close quarters in here, but as you can see, there's plenty of seats, so let's grab one and get settled in for the evening.
Right off the bat, there's a familiar face at the bar, Skully, who we met on our last visit here! He's a great guy and it was cool to see him again.
Truby was bartending the last time we were here and it's great to see her again! Her hair's a little shorter and she's looking pretty as always. She's a great bartender and has some wonderful stories about tending bar here and other spots around town.
Every beer comes with its own beer koozie and mine is one that is decked out with the Kegs & Eggs logo that's aired Fridays on WWCT and hosted by MBIP Pals, Marc Alghini and Matt Rixner from The Fox Pub And Cafe.
Here's Skully and Truby showing off their beer koozies, Truby's cracks me up but what's Skully's say? Time for an MBIP close-up investigation!
Ha ha ha! Classic beer boner koozie for sure!
Here's the view of the back of the bar from where I'm seated.
Butch's Pizza is offered up here, always the mark of a great bar!
Age-old stickers and time-faded dollar bills decorate the ceiling area behind the bar.
A dartboard stands at attention at the end of the bar against the wall.
Here's a shot of the bar from the dartboard's perspective. Let's go see who that is at the end of the bar.
It's Marcy, who's a regular here at the Valley. Here's she is smiling a wonderful smile and flashing the MBIP card! Love it!
There's a pool table opposite the bar.
This photo shows the rounded ceiling in here, the Quonset hut really gives this place a cozy clubhouse feeling.
There's beer behind the bar and on the walls, just the way I like it!
A lone horse grazes above bottles of booze behind the bar.
Here's a long shot of the Friendly Valley bar.
There's Truby behind the bar and underneath an infamous Peoria street sign. Time to put her to work...
And have her take this parting shot of us drinking a parting shot! Skully and I are joined at the bar by an Iowan who made a wrong turn at Des Moines and ended up here and Matt, who told me he reads the MBIP blog on a regular basis. Cheers and we'll see you all tomorrow...and hey, let's be careful out there!
