Live, from Peoria, Illinois it’s Saturday Night Cheeseburger starring this week’s host, Brasky’s Bar & Grill, with special guest stars The Megasonics and A Flock of FLores and featuring the Ready For Prime Beef Player, Marty Wombacher. And now from way up on Knoxville Avenue, please welcome this week’s host, Brasky’s Bar & Grill!
Is it me or is it a little bit fuzzy and wuzzy out here tonight?
Here we are at Brasky’s Bar & Grill, where last year we devoured a cheeseburger. This year we’ll get something different, let’s go in and start tonight’s SNC episode!
The bar is fairly well crowded, but the corner seat is available. Let’s go snag it and get settled in for the evening.
Friendly bartender Cole serves up the first beer of the evening. Cole looked familiar and then he reminded me that he had been bartending at Martini’s when we stopped in for this post. And now, of course, there’s this.
As we noted last year, there a half a dozen beers on tap in here. This is three of them...
And here’s the other three, I notice some have changed from last year. It’s of no real importance to me as I stick to my beer of constant drinkage, Budweiser.
But if you do want choices, you can see from this photo that there’s a lot of bottled beers to choose from in here.
Some specials are listed on this colorful board over here.
And even more are shown on this board on another wall. Looks like they’re trying to do battle with this lady.
A band has just started playing over in the corner. Let’s go check them out.
Ladies and gentlemen...The Megasonics! They're a great band playing everything from The Allman Brothers to Rick Springfield to Joan Jett and everything in between. If you missed this performance, they'll be back at Brasky's on August 8th. Be there or be L7!
Meanwhile, back at the bar...
Dinner is served! I got the Teriyaki chicken wings and they look fantastic.
The sauce is really tasty and tangy and the wings are plump and juicy. There's other styles of wings available too and you can read more about them in the review below.
I know I'm supposed to be getting something different in these posts where I'm going back to where I was a year ago, but I had to get the corn fritters again. They were so good last year I had to see if it was a fluke...
It's no fluke, these are so delicious! I think they're the best corn fritters in town.
Suddenly...it's a Flock of Flores! From left, Jessica, Beth, Mike, Lori and Victor Flores. For those of you keeping score, Jessica is the daughter of Beth and Mike and I've known Lori from way back when her last name was Cicciarelli before she married Victor and adapted the tongue-tripping name of Lori Flores. Beth and I have been friends since high school and Mike and Victor own Flores Music where we did a post from way back when I first started this blog, we need to make a return visit there. Stay tuned for that. It was great to see and hang out with all of them!
Here's Laura who saw me taking pictures and came up to say hi and she told me that she reads the MBIP blog every day. Always love to hear that!
And The Megasonics play on.
These two pretty women were enjoying the show and happily posed for the MBIP camera. Since I'm almost deaf I didn't get their names because they were sitting right in front of the band, but you'll be seeing one of them again shortly!
Adam's worked at Brasky's for quite a while and came over to our table to say hi to everyone. Here he is with Mike Flores.
I told you that you'd see one of the pretty ladies I just took a picture of again and here she is joining the band as a guest vocalist. I should also add here that all of the members of The Megasonics work at Flores Music, so this has really turned into a Flores night on the town!
Wow, I blinked my eyes and there's yet another pretty guest vocalist up on stage with The Megasonics.
The dance floor starts to fill up as the crowd are really enjoying the band.
Here's a shot of the lit up bar from the back of the room.
Welcome to another episode of, "Honey I Shrunk The Adam!" Adam makes like a Seinfeld episode and shows off some shrinkage flocked by bartenders Lena and Cole.
As the crowd dances on, I hit the road. Thanks to everyone at Brasky's for a great night and it was wonderful to run into the Flock of Flores! We'll see you all tomorrow!
My Meal
I wasn’t starving, so I just got an order of chicken wings as my main course. They have several styles of wings on the menu—Plain, mild, hot, BBQ, garlic parmesan or Teriyaki. The Teriyaki style sounded intriguing so I ordered them up. They arrived and they did not disappoint. The sauce was tangy and tasty, it maybe could’ve used just a little bit of heat, but I loved them the way they were. The wings were crispy on the outside and juicy as you bit into them. Those of you who follow this blog know that I’m going back to the place where I had a cheeseburger last year and trying something new, but I had to break that rule at Brasky’s. Last year they gave me a complimentary order of their homemade corn fritters and they were unbelievably good, so I had to get an order again. They were just as good or maybe even better than I had remembered. Crispy golden fried orbs of dough, flecked with corn and covered in powdered sugar and syrup. It doesn’t get any better than this folks!
SNC Rating
Four Galloping Gourmets—The wings were Paul McCartney, “Listen To What The Man Said” good, but the Corn Fritters Stonely Rolled all over my tastebuds in true “Out of Time” fashion. I’m not sure what that means, but it was sure a good meal!
