Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night Cheeseburger starring this week’s host, The Locker Room Sports Bar & Grill and featuring The Ready For Prime Beef Player, Marty Wombacher. And now, please welcome this week’s host, all the way from Jefferson Avenue in beautiful downtown Peoria, The Locker Room Sports Bar & Grill!
We’re on the same route to The Locker Room that we took last week. I found out from Tara, one of the owners of Locker Room, that the place was closed last week because of a company outing that they took everybody on. There actually was a sign on the door, but I didn’t see it, so I thought I owed them to go back there this week and so it’s off we go!
Okay, we’ve successfully parked (parallel, no less) and The Locker Room is right down the street here...
Baboom! Here we is! Let’s go inside and get this party started!
Is the bar half full or half empty? I’m not sure, but I see a few chairs straight ahead, so let’s go snag one and get settled in for the night.
There he is, Kramer, serving up the first beer of the evening! I think this is either his fourth or fifth time on the blog. I need to start a Five-Timers Club for MBIP like they do on SNL!
I decided to eat kind of light tonight and I got an order of chicken wings to start with and now I’m going to fill out this form for a custom-made salad.
Here’s my view from my perch at the bar, let’s go take a look around in here and see what’s happening.
This side of the bar is almost all filled up but the Locker Room is open till 4AM, so a big crowd will show up later in the evening. I’ll be gone by then, my 4AM bar tours stopped years ago.
Living up to the name, The Locker Room, there’s several sports-styled games to play in here, here’s a basketball game called, Hoop Fever. That’s a little clue as to where our pizza outing is happening tomorrow, stay tuned for that.
A long shuffleboard table lines the wall opposite the bar.
And of course you’ve got to have your standard state-of-the-art dart board standing attention at the end of the room.
A shot of the middle of the back of the bar with the bar’s logo expertly plastered on the mirror. Something tells me it won’t be the only thing expertly plastered in here by the end of the night!
They’ve got a nice selection of beers on tap in here. Here’s eight and there’s more to come...
Seven more are down here at the other end of the bar making for a grand total of 15 different brews on tap for your drinking pleasure.
Lots of specials tonight!
Sam told me he just started working here a little bit ago, but he’s already learned to...
Pimp the joint out when there’s a camera in the house! Smart fellow!
Hey, check it out, Sam’s started a new craze in here...
Who are these people who have all played in Peoria? Well if you keep reading, you’ll find out. Hold on to your socks, already, sheesh!
This is a group of people who volunteered to come to Peoria and work for the free dental care that happened at the Civic Center last week. It was a great success and you can read about it here.
Here's a couple of them reading the PJ Star story that I just linked to. They were pleased with the media coverage and said they were having a great time in Peoria and they loved The Locker Room.
Meanwhile, back at the bar, it looks like it’s just about dinner time!
There’s no label, but I think we all know what this is. I need to start bringing my own hot sauces with me!
I got the Sweet Chili Thai wings and they look fantastic. There’s a lot more than I expected for one appetizer order! They don’t skimp here, that’s for sure!
Wow, great wings, really plump, juicy and tasty!
Here’s the salad and this is the “small” portion! Like I said, they sure don’t skimp here!
The salad was really tasty, you can read more about it in the review below.
On weekends DJ's spin tunes in here, tonight DJ is DJC, who's a regular DJ in here. Check him out on facecrack.
DJC is not only a great DJ, he's got cool swag as well! Okay, I partied with DJC and now it's time to call it a night. We'll see you all tomorrow!
My Meal
I decided to eat light, so I got some chicken wings and a small salad to sample for this week’s Saturday dinner. The Locker Room has eight styles of wings to choose from including: Garlic Parmesan, Teriyaki, Spicy BBQ, Sweet Chili Thai, Buffalo or Dragon’s Breath. I chose the Sweet Chili Thai wings and when they arrived they looked great and it was quite a generous portion, could’ve really been a main course. So much for eating light! The wings were tasty with equal parts heat and sweet making for a nice taste combination. They were really juicy and cooked just right.
Then came the salad. The Locker room has a unique system for sandwiches and salads that I used to see in New York, but nobody else that I know of is doing it here. Basically you can pick the contents from an order sheet they give you so you can build your own special sandwich or salad. For my salad I chose mixed greens as a base, with almonds, carrots, bacon crumbles, croutons and cheddar cheese. I topped it off with taco meat and got two styles of dressings: Asian and Balsamic Vingaigrette. The greens and toppings were fresh and the taco meat added a nice savory slice of spice and was a nice counterpoint to the dressings. I got the small and it was more than enough, the large must come in a bucket!
