It’s hard to believe a whole year has gone by since we last Speedshopped at Kevin Kelly Jewelers, but a year has indeed flown by. And just like last year at this time, Mother’s Day is this Sunday and I need a present to gain entry to my sister Terry’s house where our Mother’s Day party of pizza and beer is being held. I’m a terrible shopper and get antsy just being in stores. Last year I was able to get a gift in just seven minutes at Kevin Kelly Jewelers, let’s see if we can break that record this year! To the MBIP Mobile!
Deja view, it’s the same road we took a year ago!
Drive-by shot of Kevin Kelly Jewelers!
We’ve parked and now...
Time to once again walk through the outer doors and into the inner sanctum known as Kevin Kelly Jewelers.
But first, an obligatory foyer mirror shot!
Okay, in we go!
The store looks great, as always.
Here’s a shot from the other side of the showroom, it’s a lot bigger than it looks like from the street.
Work is going on in the back room where they make and repair jewelry.
There’s Kevin over there, but he’s busy with customers, so we’ll hang back and take a look around.
Diamonds and pearls...this display is a little over my budget I’m afraid, so let’s move on...
Lots of interesting items in this display over here.
They really have a large inventory in here and they can find a gift for you no matter what your budget is.
That’s a cool necklace there.
I really like the custom-made Kevin Kelly Jewelry boxes...I might just buy one of those and fill it full of Milk Duds.
There he is, Kevin Kelly: Jeweler At Large! The glare on his glasses is giving him somewhat of a pirate look...arr, matey!
Okay, just like last year, it took 47 minutes to get the staff to pose together for the annual Speedshopping photo, from left: Kevin, Amanda, Melissa and Dan. Hmmm, last year there were at least six people in the photo...is there some sort of Survivor thing happening where you get voted off the store now? We’ll have to wait till next year to find out...stay tuned!
Okay, Dan has accepted the Speedshopping challenge and has set his watch to time the action. And the action begins in 3...2...and...
We’re off and shopping! Dan is a pro and he listened to a few things I told him about my mom (I left out the fact that she threw away a lot of my weed in high school, no need to dwell on that now) and he immediately took me to these boulder opal (I think that’s what they’re called) necklaces. The one on the left is perfect! And we’re just over the two minute mark!
He swiftly rings the gift up, cash is exchanged and my socks have begun to droop ever so slightly. The air is charged with electricity!
Vanilla Ice proved that white men can’t rap and Dan quickly proves that white men can’t wrap either. He’s been piddling away at the package for a while and we’re now past the five minute mark.
At the six minute mark, Melissa comes in to lend a hand...
Six and a half minutes in and there seems to be some confusion over the tape, this doesn’t look good folks!
Oh my God, it appears that Dan’s bumbling of the wrapping has gotten him voted out of the store! And it’s all up to Melissa!
Well, this episode is really taking some wild turns, Dan is back (it wasn’t verified, but I’m guessing bathroom break) and he and Melissa have successfully wrapped the package. The time: 8 minutes and 40 seconds, but to be fair, the gift wasn’t wrapped last year, so we’ll call it a draw. Another wonderful shopping experience and thanks to the crew at Kevin Kelly Jewelery! And tune in this Monday to see how my mom likes her present, I’ll be putting up some bonus photos of our Mother’s Day party from my sister Terry’s house! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
