Last week I announced a new page here at MBIP, The MBIP Bucket List, which is a list of businesses I’ve been to that should be on your bucket list of places to go not only once, but over and over again. They’re all local businesses and you should support them, as they are helping to support this blog.
You should check the MBIP Bucket List page daily, not only is there “Your Daily Random Linkage,” (at the bottom of the page) which is updated every morning and will magically transport you to some crazy place here on the interwebs, but there’s new businesses coming along and joining forces in this Bucket List movement! Today we’ve added Double A’s Pizza • Sports Bar • Grill to the group. They’re at the top of the page today over at the MBIP Bucket List, they’re at the top of the page, check it out!
Last week after I put up the page, I realized one thing...these businesses need buckets! They are on a bucket list after all! So I thought it would be fun to get some buckets, deliver them to the MBIP Bucket List businesses and have them decorate the buckets themselves. I figure after I get them all dropped off, we’ll go back and see what they’ve done with their official MBIP Buckets!
I figure I'll hit two businesses a week, drop the buckets off and then when they've all been dropped off, we'll go back and see how they've designed the bucket and where they've got it on display in the store. I thought we'd start at Moxie's ReSale Boutique, because Moxie's was the first business to get on board with this Bucket List idea when it first popped into my noggin.'
I think I see a familiar face there in the window...
Let's go in and say hi and drop off bucket number one!
There she is, the pretty owner of Moxie's, Mollee with bucket number one! Always fun to hang out with Mollee and see what fun new items are in the boutique.
As you can see, there's lots of inventory inside of here, the store is bigger than it looks from the outside and it's always brimming with cool stuff inside.
There's lots of variety in here, in this corner alone you've got sunglasses, cowboy boots, a headband and a Cyndi Lauper-like head of a mannequin that just wants to have fun.
Cool kicks!
Phil Spector had his wall of sound, Moxie's has their wall of jewelry. And now, all of a sudden, this song just popped into my head!
Wow, check out this feather jacket, you won't find anything like this at the mall!
This walk in area in the back is loaded with shoes, handbags and other unique accessories.
There's even wedding dresses to be had here in case you're planning on saying, "I do," this summer. Hey, what's that over there...
Headless naked mannequin alert!
I think some people see the word, "boutique" and they assume it's all women's stuff inside, but there's plenty of things for men inside of Moxie's too.
Check out the Black Crow Brewing shirt, very cool and it reminds me of Drinky Crow!
Okay, time for stop number two here at Emack & Bolio's, a regular stop on the MBIP traveling route. This is the original location on Prospect in the Heights, but they've also got another Emack's in operation at 110 NE Water Street on the riverfront in downtown Peoria.
And I spy yet another familiar face down at the end of the counter there...
It's co-owner of Emack's (Jim Maxwell, the other partner in this ice cream operation was at the downtown location), Tim Hennessey, proudly holding his brand new MBIP Bucket. He told me that one of the Emack crew was a versatile artist, so I'm anxious to see how their bucket ends up designed.
We all know by now that Emack & Bolio's has the most unique ice cream flavors in Peoria...
And a huge selection of freshly made candy to stop any sweet tooth in its tracks, but they've also got...
Local art hanging on the walls in here!
These impressive pieces of wood-cut art are done by local artist, Jeff Selke.
If you'd like a little art along with your ice cream, these pieces are for sale. Check out Jeff at CIAO.
Here's a painting on the wall done by a former employee of Emack's, Brooke Gimball. Brooke has moved to Colorado, but her art remains here at Emack's!
And the coolest art, for me at least, is a piece done by my brother, Jim.
These dipped cones in the display are edible works of art!
Here's an award tucked away in the corner for best dessert in the Taste of Chillicothe!
Is that Marty Moose on the wall? Speaking of Marty's...
Here I am rockin' my Moxie at Emack and Bolio's! It doesn't get any better than this! Thanks to Tim and Mollee for letting me hang out and if you're a business on the MBIP Bucket List, I will be stopping by soon to deliver your bucket, you've been warned! We'll see you all tomorrow!
