There’s a band called The Brazilionaires that I’ve heard great things about and I’ve been wanting to check them out for some time now. Well, I found out that they’re playing tonight at a place I’ve never been to called Noir Bar Tapas & Rendevous Lounge which is located in Peoria Heights. The show starts at 8PM and it’s almost 10PM now...to the MBIP mobile before we miss the entire show!
We're off and sailing with a cruising speed of 26 miles per hour. We're traveling down Prospect Road and we're scheduled for a landing in about two seconds...
And we've touched down, here at Noir. There's two levels to this place, the ground floor...
And the top level all the way up here.
Let's go in and see what's shaking at Noir.
It's really dark in here, it's definitely going to be approved by 365 co-pilot, Al!
Here's pretty and friendly Georgie who's the General Manager here at Noir. She's worked here over a year and says the place draws a big crowd on the weekends.
An electric candle-lit chandelier hangs over the bar and above it you can see a tin ceiling, always the mark of a classy bar.
Leather booths line the draped and lit up back wall opposite the bar.
Here's a shot of the bar from the other end and you can see the bottles on display in different colored formations behind it.
Sam was also on duty and told me that she saw me taking pictures at Kenny's Westside Pub, last Halloween. She and Georgie told me that The Brazilionaires were playing upstairs.
I was instructed to head out the front door...
And over to this door off to the side which leads upstairs to...
Live music from The Brazilionaires!
Baby steps to the upstairs bar.
Wow, it's really dark up here and there's no way I'm turning my flash on, so get used to some muted and dark shots.
Here's Kayla, the pretty bartender on duty up here. She told me she's a big fan of The Brazilionaires and used to work at the Black Rabbit where the band also plays.
This is the view from my seat at the bar. Couples are dancing on the floor in front of the band, I need to get up and get a better angle of The Brazilionaires in action.
Ladies and gentlemen, please give up a round of applause for the fabulous Brazilionaires!
Here's Dove Benoit on vocals and "Rico" Wayne Johnson on guitar and vocals.
On keyboards is MBIP pal, Mike Nellas who was also featured in a post when Yardbirds drummer Jim McCarty was in town and played a show at Younger Than Yesterday.
Nick the drummer was pounding the skins and keeping a steady beat in the corner back here.
Carl Bopp—and yes, that's his real name—did double duty on accordion...
And flute. Carl's a local musician based out of Pekin and you can check out his website here.
This is definitely one band you should seek out if you're into live music.
Seeing and listening to The Brazillionaires is an exotic treat with a soundtrack fused with a Latin Samba jazz pop infused groove. They are a really fun and entertaining band playing original tunes along with unexpected covers such as "Melt With You" and "Superstar" that are transformed into funky Latin-tinged tunes.
Thanks to everyone at Noir Bar Tapas & Rendezvous Lounge and to The Brazilionaires for a great and fun musical evening! We'll see you all tomorrow...and hey, let's be careful out there!
