I’ve driven by Dave’s Goodtime Billiards many times, but I just found out that they have a full bar in there. I had no idea, I thought it was strictly a pool hall that was void of booze. I’ve been to just about every bar on that stretch of Farmington Road, so it’s high time I checked out this place and had a couple of beers in there. To the MBIP mobile!
And we're off, tonight there's 30 to 50 MPH winds out there, I wish there was just one night that wasn't plagued with severe weather, this shit is getting old!
There it is, let's go park and check it out.
Okay, so I went in and the place is pretty cool, there's 16 pool tables and a friendly crowd. The only problem was that the two bartenders on duty wouldn't pose for a photo behind the bar. They were nice enough about it, but I've got to start the bar post with the bartender serving me a beer, that's just the rules here at MBIP. So what to do now?
I turned around and just like Todd Rundgren, I saw the light!
And that light led me directly to Jimmy's Bar!
Let's go in, I'm thirsty and tired of dicking around tonight!
Ah, always a nice familiar feeling coming in to Jimmy's! And do you know what time it is?
It's time for a fucking drink, that's what time it is!
And here's Adam serving up that much-needed drink. The bartenders aren't shy in here and friendly too, I should've just come here in the first place!
Check out the Jimmy's t-shirt behind the bar, very cool!
Here's a familiar face, Bad Brad! Brad's a fixture on the bar scene in West Peoria, hang out in one of the FRED bars and sooner or later you'll bump into Brad!
As you can see from this makeshift aerial shot (I'm standing on my tip-toes) it's a full crowd at the bar tonight.
And there's plenty of people mingling behind the bar as well.
Ceiling fans and lights loom overhead.
There's also framed basketball jerseys up here.
Irish flags line the top of the outer wall.
It's getting close to St. Paddy's Day and the festivities begin here around eight in the morning on that fateful holiday.
Wooden circular tables line the outer walls.
Here's a sign behind the bar pointing to Clonmel, Peoria's sister city in Ireland.
Adam pours a beer from a Smithwick's tap...
Sadly the other taps are hidden by this Jimmy's bar sign, sorry Spike!
Meanwhile, back at the bar, I said hello to Alice and Mike and noticed that they were wearing the same ties and I asked what was up with that. They explained that Jimmy has a a whole treasure trove of ties in the back.
Well, naturally I had to go and check out this collection of neckties in the back of Jimmy's Bar, who knew such a thing existed? I feel kind of like Geraldo Rivera entering Al Capone's Vaults!
And here it is, an exclusive on MBIP, the hidden necktie collection at Jimmy's Bar!
Cheers and we'll see you all tomorrow! And hey...let's be careful out there!
