It’s that time of month for a Contriburor’s Lunch and I’m overdue for a stop at Peoria Hofbrau to keep my World Beer Tour going, so once again, let’s combine the two. I think I can hit the halfway mark for the tour on this trip, so let’s hit the road, Jack!
And we'll be hitting the road with some assistance from MBIP Contributing Writer, pal and wheel man, Scott Turley. Any seasoned World Beer traveler knows better than to drink and drive!
And here we are at Peoria Hofbrau to complete my fifth week of touring. According to my calculations I should hit the halfway mark of my tour today. I think I get a gift for the halfway mark, so keep on scrolling to see what it is.
Our usual table in the back was taken, so Scott and I decided to sit at this table up in the front for a change.
And the MBIP Contributing Luncheon Party is complete as Chip Joyce and Bob Gordon show up. Time to let the festivities begin!
As we belly up to the bar, pretty Vanessa uncorks an imported beer and the aforementioned festivities are under way! Cheers!
On the way back to the table I ran into Travis and Christa from the Salt, Sugar and Cracked Pepper triumvirate that we love stopping in to for our Saturday night meals and luncheons. Great to see both of them!
Cheers from the MBIP Contributing Writers table at Peoria Hofbrau!
There's Peoria Hofbrau owner, Andy to the right with Reid on the left. Reid just started working here at the Hofbrau and after chatting with him, we realized that he had done a couple of graphics for my old magazine, POP! Great to get reacquainted with him again. Reid runs the Peoria Click N' Pick website and you can check that out right here.
Vanessa has just delivered the luncheon entrees. Scott got a Reuben...
Bob got a ham and cheese and a mountain of potato chips...
Chip got the Prime Rib Sandwich with homemade Hofbrau potato salad...
And I got the same thing but with chips. I added some of the Hofbrau homemade hot mustard and au jus and this is one of the best sandwiches in town! We had a nice lunch and discussed several ideas for topics that you'll be reading in the future here on MBIP! Stay tuned!
Chip had to leave and left with this John Lennonesque, "Sorry girls, he's married," photo op. He and his girlfriend Jenny tied the knot last month. Congratulations to them and best wishes for a long and happy marriage!
And then there were three. Bob, Scott and myself had nowhere to go, so we decided to have another beer! That's way to roll here at Peoria Hofbrau!
Here's a shot from the back of the bar where that damned sunshine is trying to creep in, but happily it's still dark in here.
A longshot of the classic bar in here.
Of course we need a shot of Spuds MacKenzie behind the bar. Someone gave him a hat for this winter season that's upon us way too soon in my book!
An Oktoberfest banner, German signage and vintage beer coasters hover over the bar.
The beer taps change frequently in here and here's four of them that's available this month.
In the center of the bar is three more including the Hofbrau House Lager.
The final four are down here at the end of the bar.
A Hofbrau needlepoint looms over our table up in the front of the dining room.
As the afternoon turns into evening, the nightshift brings pretty waitress Tiffany to our table. Great to see her again!
And speaking of pretty, here's Henrietta who's taken over the bar duties from Andy for the evening.
Legendary Hofbrau World Beer Tour Member, Bob Whitaker has just arrived and it's always great to see him in here!
Alex pours this beer which marks my 49th point in my World Beer Tour. One more and I'm halfway there!
This is Tyler and Zak who joined us at our table to witness me marking my halfway point through the tour.
Tiffany pours the beer that marks my halfway part of my Hofbrau World Beer Tour!
Here I am quaffing that beer while wearing the hat that you get at the halfway point through the tour! Fifty to go and I get my gold plaque on the wall! Cheers and we'll see you all tomorrow! And hey, let's be careful out there!
