Live, from Peoria, it’s a Saturday Night Fundraiser for Cherry with your host The Red Barn and a special guest appearance from Sugar Wood-Fired Bistro. And now, please welcome this week’s host, The Red Barn and special guest star, Sugar Wood-Fired Bistro!
Here we are at Sugar Wood-Fired Bistro. If you recall from last Friday's post, tonight is a fundraiser for Cherry who bartends at the Red Barn. She's going to Indonesia to teach English in a village there and she needs funds for supplies for the trip. So I'm donating a dinner that I'm picking up at Sugar and they're going to put this into the silent auction and we'll find out who bought into this when I get to the Red Barn. For now, let's go get our food.
I called in the order and I think I see the bag right there on the counter...
Yep, that's our order and here's Nicole presenting it to us from behind the counter.
Off we go into the night headed towards the Red Barn!
Through the magic of the interwebs you're spared having to drive through several construction detours to get here. I wonder if the roads are ever going to get fixed here.
Let's go in and see what's happening.
The Silent Auction is happening up here at the front of the bar.
As you can see, there's lots of items in the auction including art, jewelry and there's even a silver flask down at the end of the table.
There's more items over here including a t-shirt and...
Here's the entry for tonight's dinner and the person who signed on for this is none other than Jeanette Kendall, who we had lunch with a while back at Carl's in East Peoria. Let' go look around and find her and start the dinner portion of this post.
Our bartenders for the evening are Alyssa, who's Cherry's sister and Thomas A.K.A. Michael.
Red Barn regular, Fletch is hanging out over there in the corner, always great to see him!
And here's the star of the evening, Cherry! I see a familiar face there in the background...
It's Cherry's dad Bob, who we know from our World Beer Tour at the Hofbrau and there's 2016 Presidential nominee, Meghan on the right. Okay, the party has officially begun! Now where's Jeanette, I'm starving like you know who over here!
Here's Jeanette, holding up one of the boxes from Sugar. Great to see her again and now, let's eat!
Cherry took the official MBIP camera and here's the two of us starting off our Saturday Night dinner.
Right before we started to dig in to dinner, Tiffini stopped by to say hello. We're facecrack friends, but we've never met in person and it was great to meet her! Now it's time to eat!
It was fun catching up with Jeanette and the food from Sugar was amazing as always!
I got so caught up in conversation I forgot to take pictures of the food, but Jeanette and I decided to go back to the restaurant so we can have the actual dinner and photos there in a couple of weeks, so stay tuned for that.
I did get a shot of the Jeanette displaying the dessert pizza, which is really tasty and delicious!
Music had started in the back room and as we made our way back there we ran into Jim and Stephanie from the band, The Midnight Special. Check out their facecrack page here to see where they're playing live around town.
The emcee and the man who put the musical line up for tonight's show is River Towne Poet.
Onstage is Nick and the Family Band from Chicago.
I haven't seen music back here in The Red Barn in years and this was a lot of fun!
I didn't get the name of this classical guitarist, but he was amazing! If anyone can supply his name, let me know and I'll update this post when I get it.
Nick and the Family Band are back and they're bringing a special guest star on stage...
It's none other than Alyssa, Cherry's sister, who's singing on stage for the very first time here!
Alyssa's dad Bob is proudly watching his daughter making her singing debut! She sounded great and did a wonderful job on stage!
River Towne Poet grabbed a guitar and sang some great folk-styled songs.
After a couple of songs Cherry got up on stage to sing with River Towne Poet.
Cherry's a veteran singer and she and River Towne Poet sounded great together.
Cherry can really belt out a tune!
Best of luck to Cherry in her travels and we'll be looking forward to seeing her when she gets back! Thanks to Jeanette for being a fun dinner companion and to everyone at the Red Barn for a great evening! We'll see you all tomorrow!
