I know we recently did a post from The Red Barn, but I’m going back because this Saturday is a fundraiser there for bartender Cherry. Cherry’s volunteered to go to Bali, Indonesia to teach English. So I’m going Saturday and will put up a post about that on Monday, but that would be too late to publicize the fundraiser, so I’m going tonight to raise some awareness about this upcoming fundraiser Saturday night! And I have the night off work, so I’m going a little earlier than usual and I’m taking a cab so my drinking can be unlimited!
Captain Kirk is behind the wheel. I haven't seen him in a while and it was nice to catch up with him.
Back seat taxi shot on a rainy old night in Peoria.
Here we are at the Barn that is Red. There's a couple of guys hanging out in front of the place, let's go see who it is...
It's Michael and Ryan. I've taken Michael's picture about 7,003 times but I've never met Ryan before. It was great to meet him and he told me he's a regular reader of MBIP, which I always love to hear.
It's that magical time of night to go behind the green door...
The bar is filled up, but I think I can squeeze in over there on the side...
Okay, I've successfully squeezed in and here's veteran Red Barn bartender, Randy serving up a beer. Cheers!
This is Wendy, who used to be a regular at The Red Barn and now lives in San Antonio. After I took her picture she told me that she too is a regular reader of this blog and keeps up with Peoria through it all the way from San Antonio. Very cool!
Wendy was at the bar with her mom, Charlotte...
And her husband, Michael. Look at those two lovebirds! Enjoy your trip back here and maybe we'll see them this Saturday for Cherry's fundraiser.
Okay, here's my view from where I'm seated at the bar. There's Spuds MacKenzie looming in the distance.
Seated next to me is MBIP pal Amber and The Red Barn's most regular and frequent customer, Jim.
The sturdy booths are still lined up against the wall, opposite the bar.
And, as always, this fellow is announcing the fact that, Low Point Rocks! Huzzah!
Here's a shot of the taps and as you can see a seasonal Octoberfest beer has been added to the mix. Octoberfest? What happened to the summer?
Here's a shot from the end of the bar as we know it.
Last time we were here we took a tour of the ladie's bathroom, so tonight I thought we'd take a look around inside the men's bathroom.
Words of wisdom written on the bathroom wall.
How do people even get up to the ceiling to write this graffiti?
This makes me feel old because I remember that the 70's sucked and the 60's rocked!
Here's a flyer for Cherry's fundraiser. It's a great cause because she's volunteering to teach in a small village in Bali, Indonesia and she needs supplies. Please come by this Saturday evening. I'm going to donate a Saturday night dinner, so if you'd like to be featured on this blog, stop on by and buy a raffle ticket for the dinner and you can be the special guest star of the evening! And full disclosure here, I was taking a piss while I took this photo. Talk about your multitasking!
Here's another poster for Saturday's fundraiser which is going to feature live music and lots of raffles including one for this painting by Cherry's dad, Bob Whitaker, the king of the Hofbrau Beer Tours!
After I took that shot, Amber took a photo of me playing bartender and serving Fletch up a drink.
Soon everyone was placing drink orders so I had to retreat to the other side of the bar...
Luckily Randy was waiting in the wings to take those drink orders.
I settled back at the bar with Amber and ordered another beer and some...
Warm nuts. The perfect bar food!
But now the evening has worn on and the cup of warm nuts is empty...
And so is the bar, time to call it a night. I hoe to see a lot of you this Saturday night at Cherry's fundraiser. I'll be bringing the MBIP Saturday Night dinner and I'll be anxious to see who our special guest star turns out to be! We'll see you all tomorrow and hey...let's be careful out there!
