As I mentioned a few months back, I was juried into the Pontiac Community Art Center last Spring as a member, and had a Gallery Show last June. You can read about it here: Shooting Gallery by “Boris” Boden.
It’s been a wonderful, and rewarding experience to be surrounded by such creative and talented people, and I have been truly humbled by all the talent there. As a member, I volunteer at the center a few days a month, and truly feel “at home”. Being around people that see things slightly different, perhaps slightly “askew”, and share the same sense of humor has truly amazed me.
That being said, we have a Group Show which opened on Oct. 1 and runs through Oct. 31 (yes, that’s right, Halloween) entitled “Nevermore.” All work had to be inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s work, “The Raven”. It’s wonderful to see the ideas that my fellow artists came up with in their interpretations. I will include a “Sneak Peek” of a few below.
For my piece, I chose to do my “Sons Of Anarchy” version of “The Raven”. Incorporating the Raven skull, Ink one and bottle, and ghosted back the “Poe” in Poetry. I joked beforehand that most every photo I take is actually “nevermore” as they are usually of abandoned, decaying subject matter. I thought I would do something a bit different in a print of a graphic design for this show. Yes, T-Shirts are being made as I write this.

The Art Center has a shop in the front, selling art and gift items, including photos, paintings, prints, ceramics, sculptures, hand crafted tables, clothing and jewelry.
The Gallery is situated in the middle of the shop and Art Classes and held in the rear portion of the building.
I’m including only a few photos of some of the works on display in the gallery of the “Nevermore” Show below.
“Nevermore” by Vickie Fitzgerald
“Noir” (torched glasswork necklace) by Kathy Sancken
Dresser and Tunic by Shannon Vincent
“Tribute To Poe’s Poem” by Mike Rodino
Stop by and check it out if you happen to be in the area.

I was also able to get out and take a few photos in the past few weeks, as summer came to a close, places a few of you regular readers will recognize, but I enjoy returning to them as the seasons change, each time providing a different look.
It’s been a busy few months, but for someone who prides himself as being “Hat Free Since 1968”, I seem to wear many these days, but it’s that Peace I find behind the camera lens, that rejuvenates me. Until we meet again, be good to one another.
