I was Googling around on Google looking for a bar to go to tonight and I came upon a bar called Ron & Ivie’s Unique Tavern. That’s one intriguing name, ever since I saw it, I’ve been obsessing over what’s so unique about this place. Well keep on reading and we’ll find out soon!
And we're off to East Peoria in search of Ron & Ivie's Unique Tavern.
Wow, major Mr. GPS fail! Let's try again...
Okay, Mr. GPS led me here this time and I think this might just be the place...
Yep, the "Unique" sign marks the spot...
Let's go in and see what's happening in Ron & Ivie's Unique Tavern.
Plenty of seats to be had, so let's grab one and get beer number one!
Beer number one is served up by Cindy, the pretty and friendly bartender on duty. She told me the tavern is still owned by Ron and Ivie and has been in the same place for over 30 years.
Here's the view of the back of the bar from my seat.
I really love the vintage beer platters hanging over the back of the bar. These alone give the place the "unique" stamp it deserves.
A Budweiser lamp hangs over the three taps in here...
And here's the three taps. Not a huge selection, but I think Spike's on vacation, so it's kind of fitting to have a small taps selection at this stop.
Angie and Stephen were seated next to me and they told me this was their first time at Ron and Ivie's Unique Tavern. Nice to know I'm not the only newbie in here.
Joey, seated a few stools down told me he's been a regular in here for years.
There's a pool table in the back room here and it's all set up for a game.
And here's Wyatt and Wabo, who were just about to start playing before I asked them to pose for the MBIP camera.
Always like to see taverns selling Butch's Pizza. I'm hoping to get a tour of that place down the road.
Here's a shot from the far end of the bar.
Cindy's playing some tunes on the jukebox...
And afterwards she serves up the second beer of the evening with the traditional two finger salute.
Good knight and we'll see you all tomorrow. And hey...let's be careful out there!
