Live, from, Creve Coeur, it’s Saturday Night Cheeseburger starring this week’s host, Kuchie’s On The Water and featuring the Ready For Prime Beef Player, Marty Wombacher. And now, please welcome all the way from scenic Creve Coeur, Illinois, Kuchie’s On The Water!
We're off in search of yet another late-night, after-work cheeseburger. I actually stopped by Kuchie's Friday night for a beer and met chef Geno and he told me they'd keep the kitchen open till I got there. Pretty cool, huh?
Here we are, the parking lot is crowded. This is one popular place!
Let's go in and begin this edition of Saturday Night Cheeseburger!
Wow, check out the Tiki Bar in here, really cool!
I feel like I've been transported to the tropics in here!
Bartender Bobby was busy behind the bar, so I told him I'd take an official photo later.
Here's Doug who was lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar. He raved about the food in here and gave a thumbs up for the roving MBIP camera.
Leather booths line the wall opposite the bar.
There's some tables and a seating area over here to the other side of the bar. The front room was getting set up for karaoke and we'll take a look at that when it starts up.
The patio is open! Let's go check it out.
I like the Cheap Trick tablecloths out here!
The large patio overlooks the Illinois River, but it's too dark to get a shot of that tonight. It's a good excuse to come back here in the daytime some time down the road!
Things have finally settled down for bartender Bobby and here he is taking a quick break with pretty waitress Angel, who just finished her shift. Everybody that works here is really friendly and they make you feel at home in here.
Back inside, here's Geno's kitchen. Let's go see how tonight's cheeseburger order is coming along.
Here's the man himself, Geno! Geno started working here 19 years ago washing dishes and through the years he worked himself up to the lead chef at Kuchie's and he runs the kitchen.
There's my burger sizzling away on the grill.
This place is famous for their homemade corn fritters, so I had to get an order of them as well.
And through the magic of the internet, here's tonight's cheeseburger magically transported to this booth!
Here's the burger, dressed up with mustard and pepper, it looks great!
It's a great burger, but...
It was quickly upstaged by the appearance of this order of homemade corn fritters.
Here's one of the fritters soaking in a puddle of syrup.
Wow, that's one heavenly looking corn fritter!
Unbelievable! These are the best corn fritters I've ever had! You seriously need to stop out here and try them yourself!
Just as I finished up the corn fritters, Dennis the DJ started up the karaoke portion of the evening.
Here's Jerry, who was first up and holding a mug of liquid courage before he started to belt out...
"Sweet Home Chicago." He did it Blues Brothers style and really nailed it.
Geno came out and proved that he can cook outside of the kitchen as well and did a great version of Tesla's "What You Give."
Here's the co-owners of Kuchie's On The Water, Kuchie and Jan. They also own Kuchie's Corner in Groveland. I need to take a road trip there soon! Thanks to Jan, Kuchie and everybody at Kuchie's for a great evening! We'll see you all tomorrow.
My Cheeseburger
They have seven styles of burgers on the menu at Kuchie’s and I was in the mood for a straight ahead, no frills cheeseburger, so I got the Classic Burger, which is a half pound of premium black Angus burger and I got it topped with cheddar cheese. The burger was grilled to perfection, topped with a generous amount of cheddar cheese and was housed in a bakery fresh bun. Delicious! Other burgers offered include a bacon cheeseburger, a mushroom and swiss burger, a black and bleu burger and the Maddie Burger which is a half pound burger topped with corned beef, sauerkraut and Maddie Sauce.
Kuchie’s also has a dozen types of sandwiches, a wide variety of appetizers and full dinners including: Stuffed Shrimp; Applewood Salmon; Fish and Fries and a Fisherman’s Platter that includes flounder, scallops and shrimp with sides of fries and slaw. And don’t forget to order the corn fritters!
Cheeseburger Rating
Three Wimpy’s, a solid and delicious burger that got upstaged by those fabulous corn fritters!

Bonus Photos From Yesterday’s Sunday Worship Service At Mt. Olive
Last week we met Pastor Mark and had a nice visit and tour of Mt. Olive Church. I presented Mark with a large jar of Mt. Olive pickles and he said he’d make them part of this week’s church service. I hadn’t been to church in quite some time, so I thought I’d make the effort to get up early and check out the weekly service at 10AM. After I emailed Pastor Mark and told him I’d be in attendance, he emailed me back and said he had taken out some extra insurance on the church in case lightening struck it! Ha! I like this guy!
It's a really friendly and relaxed service in here and it begins with the church house band playing. Several people came up to me and said they had read the blog, which was very cool! The music is great in here, but I don't see the pickles on the stool!
Here's Pastor Mark giving his weekly talk/sermon. He's a great and engaging speaker, but I have to admit I'm a little bummed out at this point at the disappearance of the pickle jar.
Wait a second, at this point, Pastor Mark just announced that they got a great gift last week...
Houston, we have a giant jar of Mt. Olive pickles in the house! Too cool!
It was really great how Pastor Mark integrated them into Sunday's worship service! It was a wonderful time and the roof didn't cave in after all! They have a service every Sunday at 10AM, stop by and check it out sometime. Thanks to Pastor Mark and everybody who gave me nice wishes there!
