There’s so many classic bars in West Peoria and one of them I haven’t been to while doing this blog is the Owl’s Nest. We’ll correct that in a couple of minutes...
Okay, I had to work late tonight, so I'm hoping the Owl's Nest is still open, let's go and find out.
The lights are on...
Let's go in and get this party started!
I haven't been in here in years, the square bar in the middle of the place looks different. There's plenty of seats available, so let's go snag one and get a beer.
Beer number one of the evening is served up by Holly, the pretty and friendly bartender on duty for tonight.
Here's MBIP pals, Michelle and Todd at the bar, who introduced me Pete, on the left of this photo. Pete's a longtime West Peoria resident and it turns out he knew my Grandpa Seitz. He's also a teller of many jokes and he single-handedly is trying to change the name "butt" to "turdcutter." I applaud his efforts in life!
Illuminated palm trees line the center of the bar.
Here's the four beers on tap at The Owl's Nest.
I see some interesting sights behind the bar, let's go take a closer look, shall we?
A real blast from the past, a lit-up Spuds Mackenzie!
I'm not really quite sure what this is. It kind of looks like a mix of a koala bear and Toucan Pete. To be perfectly frank, he's making me a little uncomfortable, so let's just keep on moving along.
I didn't remember this room and Michelle and Todd told me it was added on years ago. Let's go take a look at it.
It's a nice big side room back here with lots of tables for relaxation and games of footsy.
This corner is a real gas. (Boo!)
There's a pool table back here and...
A free popcorn machine! Always the mark of a stellar bar!
Oh, deer.
Meanwhile back at the bar, Holly's holding court and keeping everyone's drinks refreshed.
Debbie, Brianna and Otis were seated on the other side of the bar and posed for the wandering MBIP camera.
"Strangers In The Night" came on the jukebox and Michelle and Todd broke into a spontaneous romantical dance.
A corner shot of the bar.
Hooty hoot!
Holly gets an assist from Todd for the second beer, double finger bartender salute of the evening.
Here's Bret and Julie on the left who joined Pete, Michelle and Todd for a triple finger, Sayonara salute! See you all tomorrow.
