Last week when I went out for the latest battle in the Peoria Hot Dog Wars, I planned on eating the hot dogs at Whitey’s Tip Top Tavern. But then I discovered it was closed and wandered down to a bar that I remembered as The Sports Page, but I found out that someone bought the joint a couple of years ago and renamed it, Jimmy C’s Sports Bar and Grill. I was surprised to find that the place hadn’t changed much and decided to come back tonight and have a couple beers there and do a full-fledged post about the place. And so, it’s to the MBIP moblie we go!
And we're off with a traveling speed of 26 MPH straight up Sheridan Road to...
Jimmy C's Sports Bar and Grill, let's step inside and see what's shaking in here tonight.
Looks like there's a little party at the end of the bar going on, let's wander down in that direction.
And as I wander up to the bar, who's waiting there with beer number one, but friendly and pretty bartender, Chrissie who we met last Sunday! This is only my second time in here and I feel like a regular already! This place has a real friendly vibe to it.
And here's part of the party that was going on at the end of the bar, from left: Mary, Lindsey and Jodi, the guys at the party didn't want their picture taken, but that's okay, this is the prettier half anyway! And I found out that Jodi is the daughter of a legend in Peoria—her dad is Walter Highland A.K.A. "Skinny," who, along with "Booger," was the subject of many of comedian Royce Elliott's stories and jokes and part of the title of a book that Royce wrote. Jodi told me that Walter/Skinny turns 75 on July 30th, so happy early birthday to you, Walter/Skinny!
Obligatory bar room mirror shot!
Old Glory hangs from the ceiling near the entrance.
There's circular tables and stools directly behind the bar.
A pool table occupies the left side of the back room...
And this is the right hand side of the back room. Plenty of room to hang out and enjoy a drink or three. Or possibly even four!
A long shot of the bar. Chrissie told me this is the same bar that was in here all those years ago when I used to hang out in here. If it could talk, I'd wish I was more than half deaf!
Okay, back to my end of the bar to reclaim my beer.
Mary bought me a Fireball shot, whoops, going over the two beer limit tonight!
Smiles times two! Megan and Chrissie at the far end of the bar, nearby...
The infamous Jimmy C's Fucktard Wall of Fame!
Survey says...you're a fucktard! I have to say, this couldn't be any more politically incorrect if you tried to be...and that's why I love it!
For me, the best thing up here is the upside down picture asking the musical question: "What's up with Keanu?" Now that's something that's puzzled me my whole life!
Jimmy C's owner, John Williams put his own photo up here on the Fucktard Wall of Fame, not that he's a fucktard or anything, this way no one else can complain if their picture goes up here. Good thinking!
Well now, this is sad, an empty popcorn machine.
Chrissie saw me on the verge of tears and set about to rectify the situation before I started bawling like Jimmy Swaggart after he got caught with that hooker years ago.
In it goes...
And minutes later the machine is vomiting out popcorn. Huzzah!
Chrissie serves it up with a smile...
And tonight's second beer complete with the traditional MBIP two finger bartender salute! Thanks to Chrissy and everybody at Jimmy C's for a fun evening, this is really a friendly place to hang out, stop by soon, I know I will! See you all tomorrow.
