I hear a lot about different shops and stores in my travels and Moxie’s ReSale Boutique is one of those places. A couple of people have mentioned it to me and it’s been on my list of shops to go check out for quite a while now, so I’ve decided today is the day to make my Moxie’s moment happen.
When I go to a store or shop for an MBIP post, I always buy something to get the real shopping experience of the place and also to help support local businesses by making a purchase. Moxie’s is a little different because it’s a consignment/resale shop, meaning you can take clothing, jewelry, shoes and other things and see if you can sell them in there. I also think you can trade or barter with items, I’m not totally sure about this, but I want to bring a couple of things that have probably never been sold in there before. It took me awhile to figure out what to take, but I think I figured it out. Read along and you’ll see, I’ll meet you down there, in the first picture caption.
Hello, so glad you made it down here to the first photo caption. What I've decided to take to Moxie's is a t-shirt from last year's Joey Ramone's Birthday Bash. It's a limited t-shirt available only to those who bought a ticket to the show and I bet no one else in Peoria has one. And another item that no one in Peoria has is my very own underwear. And it's a clean pair and fresh from the laundry basket. So let's see how these two items consign at Moxie's ReSale Boutique.
Okay, I've packed both items into Gumby, who's grinning like the little freak he is and I've placed him in the shotgun seat next to me in the MBIP mobile.
And here we are traveling down Sheridan Road, I think Moxie's is right up ahead on the next block.
Told ya so! Here we are. It's a cool looking store and I love all the fun items in the windows.
And check it out, they have t-shirts on display in the window, glad I brought my Joey Ramone shirt!
Let's go inside and see what kind of consignment deal we can hash out in here.
Wow, it's bigger in here than I thought it would be, very nice!
There's someone over there at the front counter. Let's go over and start this consigning deal!
It turns out the pretty woman behind the counter is none other than Mollee Wood, the owner of Moxie's. And it's only now that I'm typing this caption in that I'm wondering if she's any relation to Natalie? I need to ask her that next time I'm in the store.
Okay, time to start consigning. I took the Joey Ramone t-shirt out of Gumby and Mollee loved it. She said she'd definitely take this on and add it to the store's inventory. One down and one to go!
The underwear was another story. Mollee was a little disgusted but somewhat amused by this offering...
She gave these back to Gumby. A hit and a miss at Moxie's ReSale Boutique! Let's take a look around and see what Molle will trade for the Joey Ramone t-shirt.
There's a lot of cool things right up here at the front counter.
For some reason this Lady Schick razor caught my eye. This is an outstanding piece, a rare find as it is complete in the case
with the original accessories and paperwork. This is an all white razor
with a gold razor area, each side of the blade has a rolling brush and
the front of the razor has an ornate gold metal decoration with a topaz
rhinestone in the center that is surrounded by white rhinestones. Okay, I cheated and found that information on someone's Etsy page, but they're selling their Lady Schick for $39.99 and Mollee's is priced at $12.99. What a deal!
Speaking of money, here's the first dollar Mollee made back when she opened the door's here on June 11th of 2012. She just celebrated her one year anniversary a couple of week's ago. Congratulations, Mollee!
is it Pink or Lady Gaga? Only EV Grieve's hairdresser knows for sure and she isn't talking, so I guess we'll never know. Sob!
Ha ha ha! Check out the P-Town White Trash t-shirt! Too funny! This is designed by Devin McGlone, a local artist who you can read more about here.
Moxie's not only has clothing, there's also vintage jewelry in here. Nice!
It's summer time and so the bucket o' sandals is out in full display.
Another popular summer item are these sunglasses, which are polarized for your eyeballing protection.
Moxie's has a special shoe room here in the back of the store...
The inventory changes here on a daily basis, making it a particularly popular spot in the store.
I think this is the coolest pair of shoes in the whole store, but sadly they're not my size.
Moxie's is known for their large selection of women's cowboy boots and my friend Kathy wanted me to check and see if they had any in a size 8...
Here you go, Kathy, Mollee told me these were a size 8, better come snap them up before someone else does!
I've decided to go with the Lady Schick Razor and Mollee said she'd trade me straight out for the Joey Ramone t-shirt.
And here it is on the rack at Moxie's, stop in and buy this chunk of history and mail me a picture of you wearing it and we'll put it up on the blog. I hope someone takes me up on this!
And Mollee even threw in a Dum Dum to seal the deal! Sweet! See you all tomorrow.
