Since today is a holiday, Saturday Night Cheeseburger is taking the day off. I’ll be back with a cheeseburger post next Monday, but today I’m kind of taking it easy. It is a holiday after all. Sheesh!
It’s a holiday. Ooh, you’re a holiday. Holiday Road. Holiday Inn. Billie Holiday.
Three day weekend. Three blind mice. Three’s company, too.
A day off. Rainy day dream away. Dreaming is free. I dream of Jeanie. All I have to do is dream. All you need is love. All the young dudes. All in the family. All for one. And one for all.
Alright now.
Right now is never really here. It’s here and now it’s gone. How now brown cow? Now is the time, but now that time is gone. Fun flies while you’re having time.
The time of your life.
A day in the life. Life magazine. Life cereal. Life, the gift that keeps on giving.
Until it doesn’t.
Memories.
Memories, tucked inside of your brain like fuzzy little mental charms. Birthday parties, your first kiss, freshly cut lawns. Penny candy, used cars, new shoes, cold beer. Drive-in movies, bowling alleys, pinball machines. Faded Levi’s, scratched records, sideburns. Halter tops, french kisses, earlobes. Love, hate and the agony of indifference.
Memories fade and time moves on.
Until it doesn’t.
Somewhere Elvis Costello stands accused.
He needs a witness, baby.
Happy Memorial Day.
