After I did a post on Broken Tree Coffee a while ago, several people told me I should check out another coffee shop on Main Street just down the hill called thirty-thirty Coffee Co. So you know what? That’s where we’re going today, I’m always happy to take requests here at MBIP! Just like Marshall Crenshaw said, “This is easy.”
And here we are at thirty-thirty, down the hill on Main Street in downtown Peoria.
Uh, oh, unexpected obligatory mirror door shot! Alright, let's go in and see what's going on in here.
Wow, it's really a big space in here and I'm surprised at the number of people hanging out in here on a Thursday afternoon.
Let's go up to the counter and order something.
The staff here is friendly and they happily posed for the MBIP wandering camera. From left: Tony, Sarah and Annie.
I ordered a large hot chocolate and while Tony puts it all together, let's take a little tour of this place.
Here's the menu of the various coffees and other drinks they offer at thrty-thirty.
In addition to drinks, tasty pastries can also be had here.
Here's a shot of the other end of the establishment. I really like the dark wooden floors in here.
There's comfortable black leather couches at the front of the coffee shop that overlook the traffic on Main Street.
All of the artwork on the walls in thirty-thirty is done by local artists in Peoria.
If you'd like to submit your art for possible display at the shop, call or stop in and see Angela.
A nine foot bear stands at the back of the shop and he looks somewhat familiar to me.
And once I looked at the plaque at the bottom of the stand I knew why, this is the bear that used to be standing in the old Jumer's restaurant on Western Avenue. Sarah told me that the Jumer family own this building and they let them put the bear out on display. Nice to see this guy again!
There's lots of people working on laptop computers in here.
Here's two more over here. To me it's kind of isolating to bring a computer into a place like this, I like to look around and talk to people, but that's just me.
Dueling laptops...deedle-dee-dee-dee.
But look, Virginia, there is a non-laptop guy in here. This is Don, who's a regular at thirty-thrity. He told me he grew up in the South Side of Peoria and now lives up the hill on Main Street.
And here's my hot chocolate, lovingly served up with two hearts. Such a Phil Collins moment!
As I drank my large cup of hot chocolate, which was delicious by the way, I looked at this sign. "Like us on facebook and find us on Twitter." Uh, you don't "find" someone on Twitter, you follow them. I fixated and obsessed on this for about ten minutes and then tried to let it go. And then it bugged me all night. I really need to find a therapist in Peoria. See you all tomorrow...and hey, let's be careful out there!
