Okay, so the Sunday Swizzle stick post is going to go up tomorrow so I can bring you this special edition of Dashboard Dining. Sunday night I put up a picture of Emo’s on my facebook page and someone commented that their opening day was Monday and that everything was half-priced from the time of the opening, which was 5:30 in the morning until 10:30 that morning. I thought that it would be fun to go there at 5:30 in the morning and see who else would show up at that ungodly hour. So I set my alarm, drank a lot to knock myself out early and you can see what happened below. Warning, the first couple pictures are a little frightening!
Holy shitballs, 4:41 in the morning and the alarm clock is screaming! Talk about your rude awakening!
Wow, I need a bellboy to help with those bags under my eyes!
I warned you these were frightening!
It’s cold out and my car is all iced up. I almost went back in and went back to bed, but I decided to scrape the car and tough it out.
Not a lot of people out on this dark, cold, frozen rainy Monday morning.
I see Emo's off in the distance and the lights are on!
And there’s the iconic clown on top of the building. This place has been on this corner for as long as I can remember. I haven’t had one of their coney dogs in about twenty years. That’s all going to change this morning.
Not a long line here, but as usual, I’m early, I’m sure it’ll pick up after it opens.
One of the fellows was shy, but Spencer wasn’t and happily posed for the MBIP camera. He told me he’s been coming here on opening day for years.
There’s more people inside than out here!
WEEK is here to cover the event for the local news, this is bigger than I thought!
Okay, it's almost 5:30, I'm actually starving right now and can't wait to get a couple of coney dogs.
Alright, they just lit up the "Open" sign, the season of the coney dog has begun. Someone call Donovan and alert him!
A lot more people have showed up now. We better get in line! I can smell the coney dogs from here and I’m dying to eat one!
I said hi to this pretty woman standing nearby and she told me her name is Beth and she’s the Director of Special Events for the Arthritis Foundation. All of the proceeds from today go towards sponsoring the Arthritis Walk, very cool!
M time has come and I'm up at the window. I’m greeted by yet another smiling pretty woman, Wendy.
Wendy dutifully takes my order down, I got two coney dogs and a diet Coke, the breakfast of champions!
I took a shot of the inside of Emo's while I waited for my order.
My order is up, to the MBIP-mobile, Batman!
Here’s the dogs on the dashboard! Time to dig in!
They taste as good as I remember! I just hope they don’t give me nightmares, I need to go home and get back to sleep! See you all tomorrow!
