One year ago yesterday, I put up the first post at this blog. I really didn’t know what to expect and what sort of course this blog would take. This is my fifth blog, so I’ve kind of got it down to a science as to how I do these, and it’s a simple science—I just do them. Some things work, like Saturday Night Cheeseburger, The Hot Dog Contest and lately the Twenty Tenderloin Tour has been popular. Some things didn’t work—Hello Dashboard Dining!—and I let them go. Not every post is a gem, but I feel that on an average there’s something worthwhile and fun to see here most days. I really appreciate all of you who tune in every day and a big thank you to those that leave your fun comments. That adds a nice dimension to the blog and it’s always nice to hear from people.
Thanks also to the crew of MBIP Contributing Writers and Photographers for their great weekend coverage! It’s nice to have different voices and styles and they all do a great job!
I’ve met so many cool people doing all of my blogs and I’ve made what I hope will be life-long friendships with a lot of you. Being a daily blogger is a lot of work, but it’s also a ton of fun, so if you’re reading this, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
And now, let’s take a look at the party, it’s just pictures today, no captions. I’m running late and as Rod The Mod once sang: “Every Picture Tells A Story”...don’t it? (P.S. The photos are in no order, somehow some of them from the beginning got deleted, so sorry that Nate the bartender and Scott Turley aren't represented and they're somewhat disjointed because that’s exactly how I’m feeling this morning, thanks again to everyone who showed up, it was a blast! We’ll do it again next year!)
(Thanks to Butch's Pizza for the free pizza and gift bags they donated for the party!)
(Rolling Busch Light cooler and signage for the party was supplied by Brewers Distribution Company.)
Special thanks to the official sponsors of the party: Brewers Distribution and Butch’s Pizza, two of the most wonderful businesses in the world! Thanks for the donations from both of those fine companies! And thanks to everyone who showed up and to Roy and Shannon for hosting the party at the greatest bar in Peoria: Mikes Tavern! We’ll see you all, tomorrow!
