I’m running out of places to get a cheeseburger for my Saturday Night Cheeseburger posts. There’s a limited amount of places to get a cheeseburger after 10PM around here, so after the one year anniversary (which happens on December 10th, there just might be a little celebration for that, stay tuned!), I’m going to be revisiting all the restaurants I went to last year and try something other than a cheeseburger.
Last week I stopped into Shifters bar, a bar that’s pretty close by where I work. I had read a review by MBIP pal, Phil Luciano about the food and thought I’d see if they serve cheeseburgers there. Well, I stopped in and learned that they’ve discontinued the food service in here for now. I was told it might come back, but in the meantime I’m worried that people are starving in here! Time for MBIP to come to the rescue via some snacks!
And here’s the snacks I’ve acquired to administer to the starving and thirsty masses at Shifters tavern. They’re all Kitchen Cooked and they look mighty tasty! Let’s make like Bob Geldof and go feed the world! Well, at least a little chunk of it at Shifters Pub!
We don't have to travel far tonight, Shifters Pub is about four blocks from where I work. It's right up here on Main Street.
See, I told you so, here we are at Shifters Pub on a lovely Thursday night in downtown Peoria.
Let's go in and see what's shaking at Shifters.
I hear some lively chatter from those guys seated up there at the bar.
There's a chair right there, let's go join in on the festivities at the bar.
Here's the guys who were up at the bar, from left: Aaron, Sled and Jake.
Beer number one is served up by Cheri, the beautiful and friendly bartender on duty tonight.
The Kitchen Cooked snacks have been opened...
And here's Sled displaying the snacks which Cheri has poured into bowls for convenient snacking at the bar. The food crisis is officially over at Shifters Pub!
I'm not quite sure how one gets, "shifted!" but hey, whatever floats your boat.
There's a wooden floor opposite the bar, no one's out here yet, Shifters is a four o'clock bar and things start picking up after midnight in here.
The DJ Booth is here up against the wall.
Here's a view of the bar from back here.
There's guitars lined up under the ceiling, but they're too high up to read the details of who they belonged to. I'll bring a ladder next time.
Here's another angle of the square wooden bar in here.
There's round wooden tables and chairs opposite the bar.
Sturdy wooden booths line the wall directly opposite the bar.
A vintage bicycle hangs directly overhead...
A pool table here in the back of the bar. Let's go say hi to these two guys who are in the middle of a game.
Meet Tim and Alex who are in town doing some business from Wisconsin. This is their first time in Peoria and they said they were having a good time here.
Meanwhile, back at the bar, Cheri and the guys are enjoying the snacks and yukking it up.
This gentleman didn't want his face on the internet, so I blurred it out in this photo. I wanted to post it because I thought I knew where he was going with this tip for Cheri...
He shoots and scores! Nice tips...I mean tip.
And the final beer is served up by Cheri with traditional two finger salute. Cheers and we'll see you all tomorrow. And hey...let's be careful out there!
