Okay, time for another abbreviated post as I'm on vacation and the wi-fi sucks monkey lungs here in my hotel room. Once again, I'll put up a giganzo post this Wednesday about my trip, but for now this is going to be short and sweet as I've overslept and I have to meet some people soon. So yesterday I went out to Coney Island, a favorite place of mine, here's just a few photos from yesterday, there's plenty more and you can see them next Wednesday. Stay tuned!
Before I went to Coney Island, I stopped in to the International Bar and saw MBIP pal and sometime commenter, Uncle Waltie! Sip Ahoy from both of us!
Here we are at the boardwalk on Coney Island and Ruby's Bar. This is the oldest bar on the boardwalk and one of my favorite places in the world.
It was great to see Mike, the owner of Ruby's behind the bar. He said they had a great season and asked where the hell I've been. I told him I moved back to Peoria and he asked me, "Why the hell would you do something like that?" Ha ha ha!
Here's Stephanie, the cutest bartender in the world! I was hoping she'd be here and it was fun to catch up with her. Is that the best smile or what?
I've never seen this photo before, it's a great shot of Ruby's with the old sign in the background.
I met Karen and Nick who are visiting New York from Belgium. They're really cool people and we had a nice time together at Ruby's. Nick's a photographer and you can check out his work here. Karen owns a bar in Belgium called "De Robot" and you can see pictures of it from the facecrack page right here. Who knows, maybe we'll see them again before I leave.
And we'll leave you with this shot of Nathan's on the corner. I hope this corner never changes, it's a classic Coney Island spot. Once again, I apologize for these brief posts, but this one took me over an hour to put up! I'll have plenty more Coney Island photos on Wednesday. Now I'm off to Long Island for a cook out at Sam Wong's house. See you all tomorrow!
I met her at the Burger King we fell in love by the soda machine,
So we took the car downtown the kids were hanging out all around,
Then we went down to Coney Island on the coaster and around again.
