Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night Cheeseburger starring this week’s host, Big Behm’s Sports Bar and Grill and featuring the Ready For Prime Beef Player, Marty Wombacher. And now, please welcome this week’s host, all the way out on University near Pioneer Park, Big Behm’s Sports Bar and Grill!
And we're off and running on I-74. Big Behm's is close to where I live, so it's a handy location tonight. And as you can see, unlike Sammy Hagar, I can drive 55. So there!
Here we are at Big Behm's Sprort's Bar and Grill. We were here a while back when it was called Pitcher's Sport's Bar, let's see if the new owners have changed it at all.
They've kept the neon in the front windows, which looks nice.
Let's go behind the green door and see what's happening inside of Big Behm's.
There's a good crowd in here, but I spy a seat there at the corner of the bar, let's go snag it.
As soon as I sit down I'm greeted by the owners, Cathy and Tim who are serving up the first beer of the evening. Tim is "Big Behm" whom the bar is named after and it turns out that Cathy works with my brother Tom at Lexus of Peoria during the day. Okay, I hate to do this to you, but I have to cue up, "It's a Small World After All." Sorry about that.
Cathy introduced me to Josh, who also works at Lexus of Peoria with my brother Tom. Tom, Tom, Tom! Lexus, Lexus, Lexus! Marcia, Marcia, Marcia! Josh is on the right and as I snapped a photo of him and his friend Russell, Seth jumped in behind them and photobombed the picture.
Here's a shot of the entire crew that Josh was there with, from left: Russell, Jackie, Beth, Seth and Josh. Thanks to Beth for writing all the names down for me!
They've changed the taps somewhat from the previous incarnation, and Cathy said they're going to be adding some more selections soon.
As you can see, Cathy and Tim are busy behind the bar.
There's a wooden island behind the bar to hang out at. It looks from the Wrigley Field signage that this is a Cub's bar.
A pool table is situated in the front room beside the fireplace.
Wow, check out this giganzo TV screen over in the corner. There's also tables for sitting down and relaxing in here.
There's another pool table in this room which is off to the side of the bar.
Two state of the art dart machines are standing at attention at the end of the room in here.
Here's the spacious beer patio outside in the back. Cathy told me that they had had a well-attended bags tournament that afternoon.
They have a nice full-sized bar out here too, but it's a little chilly tonight, so...
Let's go back to the inside bar and have grab our seat.
The table is set, looks like it's almost cheeseburger time!
Here we go, Big Behm is serving up our weekly burger!
A bird's-eye shot of the burger and fries. You have your choice of a kaiser or a pretzel roll and Cathy suggested the pretzel roll, so that's what I went with. It looks fantastic!
You can build your own burger here and I got two kinds of cheese, onions and bacon. Here it is dressed up with mustard and pepper. As you can see, the pretzel roll has been slightly toasted which is just the way I like them. Time to dig in...
Now that's one tasty and delicious burger! You can read more about it in the review below.
One last shot of the bar before I head outside...
To howl at the full moon...Owooo! See you all tomorrow!
My Cheeseburger
At Behm’s you can build your own burger by combining a number of toppings and cheese to plop atop your burger. I chose two kinds of cheese, swiss and cheddar and also added bacon and onion to the mix. You also get your choice of a kaiser or a pretzel roll to house the burger in. Cathy suggested the pretzel roll, so that’s what I chose. She certainly was right, I always say that the bun can make or break a burger and the pretzel roll definitely made this burger special. It was crisp and toasty on the outside and soft and bakery fresh inside. It was the perfect compliment to an excellent burger made from premium Angus beef. It was juicy and the two cheeses, grilled onion and smoky bacon made for one tasty cheeseburger.
Behm’s also has a full breakfast on Saturday and Sunday (they open at 11AM) and lunch and dinner are served seven days a week. And the kitchen is open late for you hungry night owls out there. Hooty hoot!

Bonus Elite Taxi Service Photos!
I met some friends last night at Kenny’s Westside Pub for a rare non-blogging night out on the town last night and got a ride there from the Elite Taxi Service. Here’s the car outside of my apartment building...
And there’s my favorite driver, Captain Kirk, showing off his Cardinals cap! Kirk’s a life-long Cards fan and he told me he’s thrilled they’re heading off to the World Series this year. Good to see him again and we had a great night at Kenny’s, as always!

Kurt Mueller commented on facecrack that he didn't see any Wimpy ratings...whoops, I forgot to post them. Here they are: Three Wimpy’s, a wonderful burger is waiting for you at Big Behm’s!
