Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night Cheeseburger, starring this week’s host, Whitey’s Tip Top Inn and featuring The Ready For Prime Beef Player, Marty Wombacher. And now, please welcome this week’s host all the way from Sheridan Road...Whitey’s Tip Top Inn!
And we're off, in pursuit of yet another cheeseburger on one more Saturday night. Alright!
I've parked the MBIP mobile on Sheridan Road and there's Whitey's Tip Top right down the street.
We are here, let's get a beer! As I stated the last time I came here, you could go in the front door...
But those in the know, enter from the door over here on the side of the building. It's just what you should do.
It's a lively Saturday night here in Whitey's, I spy a seat at the end of the bar, let's go snag it.
No sooner am I seated than bartender Tony serves up an ice cold Budwweiser and flips me the bird in remembrance of my last visit in here. Too funny!
I followed Tony back to the kitchen where he was going to get tonight's cheeseburger cooking.
Okay, the burger is starting to sizzle and the buns are being grilled as well, looks like a magnificent beginning for our Saturday Night Cheeseburger.
Meanwhile back at the bar, Dann and Kara were enjoying some cocktails. Dann told me he's a regular reader of the blog, which I always love to hear!
There's a couple of islands behind the bar to hang out and drink at, let's go say hi to the party down there at the other end of the bar.
Hello party! From left, clockwise: Jack, Mary, Jill and Terry, who's flashing the MBIP card. Cheers to you all!
The giant shuffleboard table in the back of the bar is all shined up and ready for action.
Cans of Sun-Glo shuffleboard powder loom overhead, ready to add assistance to the sliding action on the table.
Whitey's is a Notre Dame Bar, home of the Fightin' Irish!
A shot from the back of this classic Peoria bar. It's been on the block for over seven decades now.
Okay, I'm back at the bar and a ceiling fan is spinning under the ceiling in front of Whitey's infamous, "Maximum Capacity" sign. No more than 24 Fiddes are allowed in here according to the sign and Tony told me that Whitey was at a Fiddes wedding that night. So congratulations to the newly wedded Fiddes!
I love the fact that they have Kitchen Cooked potato chips in here, I need to get a bag with my cheeseburger.
Well, looks like I don't have to order the bag of chips after all, Tony just served up the burger and it comes with a heaping mound of Kitchen Cooked potato chips on the side. Perfect! Wow, the cheeseburger looks great and there's grilled onions on top of it. Nice!
This is a pleasant surprise, Gulden's spicy brown mustard, no generic mustard at Whitey's!
All dressed up and ready for chomping!
Chomp, chomp...a delicious cheeseburger!
Burp!
A couple people left and the others went out for a smoke break, so I took advantage of the empty bar to take a long shot of this legendary wooden bar that I've had do many beers at through the years. Cheers and we'll see you all tomorrow.
My Cheeseburger
Whitey was at the aforementioned Fiddes wedding, so bartender Tony was pulling double duty and not only served up my beers, but grilled my cheeseburger to perfection. Whitey’s serves up a classic, no frills cheeseburger, with American cheese, grilled onions and a bakery fresh toasted bun. And it’s delicious! Plus they get extra marks for having quality mustard. The burger comes with Kitchen Cooked Potato Chips, so who could ask for anything more? Well, I did and Tony quickly served me up another Budweiser. Always nice to hang out at Whitey’s Tip Top Tap and throwing in a great cheeseburger made the night a perfect Saturday Night Cheeseburger evening in Peoria.
