I recently came across an article from last May in the PJ Star about how the Last Hurrah bar had been sold to new owners. It also said that the bar is close to 40-years-old, which shocked me! I had no idea it had been standing tall in that location for that many years!
The Last Hurrah is a true neighborhood bar, but even if you’re not a regular, it’s a friendly spot to stop and have a drink or three at. And so that’s why it’s tonight’s stop on the ninth night of this bar tour!
Let’s go!

Bar Number Nine: The Last Hurrah - Sunday, January 18, 2026
Here we are at The Last Hurrah and it is freezing cold out here, let’s get inside and see what’s happening in here on this chilly Sunday evening.
There’s a nice crowd in here and everyone is watching the Chicago Bears game, except me, I’m trying to wiggle my way up to the bar to get a beer!
And I’ve finally wiggled up to the bar and there’s Erin, the pretty and friendly bartender on duty. She served me up a beer and we are off and running on this 9th night of bar crawling!
After I got my beer, I met the new owners of The Last Hurrah, Shari and Ron Sullivan.
They bought the bar last year after Ron retired from his job at Hoffman Burial Supplies. Ron is no stranger to the bar and service industry as he’s related to Pat Sullivan, the owner and operator of Kelleher’s and Mike “Sully” Sullivan who was the owner of the legendary Sully’s Pub & Cafe among various other watering holes in Peoria.
They said the place has been going gangbusters and they’re having a blast owning and operating The Last Hurrah. Great to meet both of them and they said to feel free to take some photos in here, so that’s exactly what we’re going to do!
As you can see the bar is well-stocked and they have four large screen TV’s back there on the wall.
There’s the dueling taps behind the bar.
Bjorn and Teri were seated at the bar and told me they’re regular readers of the MBIP blog, which I always love to hear!
Kathy works here and she also works at Weaver’s and I had a nice chat with her.
They have gaming machines up here in the front and there’s a few in the back as well.
Tables line the wall opposite the bar and there’s Ron with Taylor at the front table.
They have a nice pool table in the back and I love the billiard art back here on the wall!
Here’s photo from the back of this cozy and friendly bar.
Thanks to Shari, Ron and Erin for the friendly service and vibes in here! It was a fun Sunday night and it also poses a question: Will this actually be the last hurrah of this bar crawl? Time will tell, stay tuned!
