It’s hard to believe, but we’re getting close to the end here on this ribtacular tour. One more saucy week after this one and this tour hits eleven and we are all done.
Speaking of eleven…how about a little musical number to start this post off?
You’re a naughty one, Saucy Jack…
Thanks, fellows! And now…
Here we are at the Northwoods Mall, it’s a chilly and rainy day out here, let’s go inside.
When I saw the gumball machines I had a Chad Wallace flashback!
Our rib destination is straight ahead!
Here we are at the Smo-King Pit BBQ restaurant.
I love the pig that hovers over the doorway in here. Check him glaring back at the MBIP Camera in the last shot! Oink, oink!
Right after I took that last shot, our special guest star showed up! it’s my friend Adam Duvall!
Adam is a sportswriter for the PJ Star and he teaches at Bradley University. He also has the distinction of eating popcorn every single day in 2023! Check out this MBIP post from his 250th day eating popcorn, right here at the mall!
Always great to see Adam and hang out with him. Now let’s go get some ribs!
As soon as we went inside we were greeted by Michelle who owns the Smo-King Pit with her husband, Mike. It was great to see her and she told me that they just celebrated their 20th anniversary of operation here at the mall!
They were recently featured on a “You Gotta Eat” segment and you can see that by clicking on this link.
Happy Anniversary to Smo-King Pit BBQ! Cheers to another 20 years!
We checked out the menu and got in line to order our saucy lunch at Smo-King Pit.
They have picnic tables in the front of the restaurant and a full dining area in the back.
We chose a table in the back area and there’s Adam seated at our table.
And here’s our food, everything looks and smells fantastic!
We started our lunch off with an order of chicken wings and they were very tasty and excellent wings! We’re off to a fabulous start here at Smo-King Pit BBQ!
Here’s the side dishes. I got, macaroni and cheese and cole slaw. These were very impressive and delicious!
All the food here is made from scratch and it is first class and tasty!
Adam enjoyed his lunch and here he is digging into one of his side dishes.
Now on to the star of the show, the ribs!
These look fantastic and they’re made with a dry rub that has a fantastic and nice savory and snappy flavor.
I also got some of their house-made sauce and tried that out and it was fantastic! It’s got a nice smoky barbecue flavor with a hint of sweetness to it.
These are wonderful ribs and both Adam and I truly enjoyed the entire saucy lunch!
The ribs and the side dishes were so good and I highly recommend Smo-King Pit BBQ! If you’ve never tried them out, go and have some of Peoria’s finest barbecue!
I’ll give their ribs a high rating of 10.4!
Thanks to Adam for joining me on this saucy and fun afternoon!
