Last week I made Asian-inspired ribs and that led me to think about spareribs from a Chinese restaurant. I decided that we should go to a Chinese restaurant for this rib tour and I thought we’d go to one of Peoria’s oldest and a classic Peoria Chinese restaurant, Ming Shee!
And for a little traveling music, here’s our saucy friends, Spinal Tap!
You’re a naughty one, Saucy Jack…
Thanks, fellows! And now…
Here we are at Ming Shee!
I’ve eaten a lot of meals here, but I’ve never had their spareribs! That’s all about to change as we walk inside the front door at this classic Peoria Chinese restaurant.
I phoned my order in, so I just walked up to the front counter and picked the order up.
I got some condiments and then wandered back to the dining room to choose a place to sit down at.
I chose this corner table and before we settle in, let’s take a few photos in here.
Here’s a view from the back of the dining room.
I love the Chinese art on the walls and comfortable booths line the wall opposite the main dining room.
Okay, we’re back at our table and now let’s dig in to our food!
Ming Shee has something that no other Chinese restaurant in Peoria has and that is authentic Buffalo Wings!
These are plump and tasty Buffalo wings and a wonderful appetizer for today’s sparerib lunch!
And speaking of spareribs…here they are!
These are boneless, bite-size ribs and they look very tasty, let’s try them out!
Wow, these are some tasty spareribs!
The sauce is an Asian infused barbecue sauce with an underlying sweetness.
These are really full of flavor, but I think I know something that will take them up a notch on the old tastebuds…
And that would be to add some hot Chinese mustard to the mix!
Wow, that took the taste level to a higher sensation! The hot Chinese mustard was a nice addition to the tangy and sweet spareribs!
A tasty and flavorful delight for sure!
I cracked open my fortune cookie and it had a dress code theme to it.
I guess this was a “fashion cookie” and it was a little bit of a disappointment! Wah, wah, wah, waaah!
I’ll give these spareribs a nice rating of 9.2 out of 11. Maybe a 9.3 after the hot mustard and don’t forget to try the Buffalo Wings in here!
