The Peoria Primary Election is February 25, 2025. You can vote early right now and up to February 25.
I have two people that I’d like to give the MBIP official endorsement to and I’ll list them below.
I don’t want this to become an argumentative post with people, I’m just spotlighting two people that are running and I want to endorse them and give you my reasons why I’m supporting them and hope they win their race. If you don’t agree, that’s fine, but I don’t want any rude comments or discussions here or on social media.
Below are the two fine Peorians running for office and endorsed by MBIP!

Rita Ali For Mayor
Rita Ali has been Peoria’s Mayor for the last three and a half years and I think she’s done a fabulous job in that position. Rita is a proud Peorian who has been involved in and with the city and the community since she was a teenager when she served on the boards of the Community Action Agency and the Peoria Police-Community Relations Council.
Rita has had key positions at Bradley University and at ICC and she wrote the book, “Role Models: Profiles of Successful African American Professionals In Peoria, Illinois”, when featured 126 local professionals.
In April, 2019, Rita was elected to the Peoria City Council and two years later she was elected Mayor of Peoria, Illinois, becoming the city’s first woman and first person of color to serve as Peoria’s Mayor.
She’s done a wonderful job as Peoria’s Mayor and I hope she can continue this successful journey of guiding Peoria on a positive and winning path. Please check out her accomplishments by clicking on this link.
Mayor Rita Ali is someone who enjoys the people of Peoria and I got to witness that first-hand as she recently awarded me a Peoria Proclamation for the work I’ve done promoting Peoria. You can read all about that wonderful afternoon by clicking here.
I encourage you to go to Mayor Ali’s website, read about all she’s done and accomplished and I hope you end up like me and wanting to see her continue her work as the Mayor of Peoria for the next four years!

Terry Grawey For Peoria Township Assessor
Terry Grawey is a life-long Peorian who was educated locally and attended, St. Thomas, Peoria Notre Dame, ICC and Bradley University.
He and his wife Eileen have been part of Peoria’s business world and they’ve owned and operated six successful businesses here in Peoria.
Terry started his successful career as a Deputy Tax Assessor and he has more personal experience in Real Estate taxation than anyone that has ever worked in the Assessors office.
One of Terry’s businesses involved assisting Peorian’s with their Real Estate Taxes and he had over 5,000 cases and assisted thousands of property owners to reduce their tax burden.
Read all about Terry here at his website and at this page as well and I encourage you to vote for him for Peoria Township Assessor.
