I wanted to cook some ribs on this tour and I found some pre-cooked ribs at Schnucks and thought it might be fun to make some Asian infused ribs in honor of the fact that Spinal Tap made their comeback in Japan!
Speaking of Spinal Tap, let’s start this post off with their saucy tune…
You’re a naughty one, Saucy Jack…
Thanks, fellows! And now…let’s cook!
Here’s our cooked ribs, St. Louis Style Pork Ribs.
I put them in a pan and gave them a liberal dose of black pepper and covered them in Chinese Hot Mustard.
Then I made a marinade out of Soy Sauce, Teriyaki, Asian Chili Sauces, Liquid Smoke and Chili Crisp to give these Spinal JAP(anese) Ribs some true Asian flavors.
I covered the dish and we’ll let this sit and marinate overnight.
Okay, the Spinal JAP(anese) ribs soaked in the Asian marinade mixture for 24 hours and now we’ll warm them up in the oven. Remember, these ribs are already cooked, so we just need to warm them up.
The ribs have been warmed up and now we’ll take them out of the marinade pan, put them on a cookie sheet and put them under the broiler to get a nice crisp on the outside of the ribs.
Here they are all cooked up and they look and smell fantastic!
Ladies and gentlemen, I present the Spinal JAP(anese) Ribs!
Let’s plate them up and try them out!
Here’s our Spinal JAP(anise) dinner in all of its glory. Let’s dig in!
For a side dish, I got these Beer Battered Cheese sticks and made an Asian dipping sauce for them from some of the marinade sauces.
They were okay, but a little bit of a disappointment. Not a lot of flavor and not much cheese in the middle of them compared to the photo on the box.
Let’s not dwell on this and we’ll move on to the main course.
Here’s a half slab of the Spinal JAP(anese) Ribs.
They look fantastic, let’s take a bite!
These ribs are so full of flavor!
There’s the original barbecue flavor combined with all of the Asian seasonings and the spice and zing of the Chinese Hot Mustard making these a flavorful explosion with every bite!
And as you can see, the meat is juicy, tender and iiterally fell off of the bone!
I was worried that marinating pre-cooked ribs wouldn’t work, but they worked like a charm and these Spinal JAP(anese) ribs were fabulous!
And in honor of his being the 11th of February, I have to give the Spinal JAP(anese) Ribs a Spinal Tapian rating of 11!
Yes, these ribs definitely went to 11!
