Today is the 58th anniversary of the first time The Peanuts special, It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown aired on CBS. This was the third televised Peanuts special, the first was, A Charlie Brown Christmas which debuted in December of 1965 and the second was Charlie Brown’s All Stars! which was first shown in the summer of 1966.
It was a very successful TV special with 17.3 million viewers the night it aired. CBS would make it a yearly Halloween special after the initial airing on this date back in 1966.

The MBIP Coming Attractions
Monday: I’ve been wanting to try out the Pop-Up Chicken Shop that opened up in downtown Peoria in June, so last night that’s exactly what I did! I’ll have the post and photos tomorrow.
Tuesday: The Dog Days Of Summer…2024 hot dog eating tour is all over and that can only mean one thing: Palate cleanser at Emack & Bolio’s in Peoria Heights! I went and had a delicious ice cream treat to cleanse my palate and I’ll announce the next MBIP food tour!
Wednesday: Our Clucky Dozen fried chicken eating tour continues this Wednesday. We’re hitting 12 fried chicken spots in 12 months and we’re up to the 8th month and this month we hit the legendary Rip’s Tavern in Ladd, Illinois. This place is known for their fried chicken, so tune in and see what we thought of it!
Thursday: I’ll have an update on my forthcoming book, Confessions of a Spiteful Writer this Thursday as well as a special announcement, so stay tuned for that eventuality!
Friday/Saturday: I’ll be taking Friday and Saturday off to work on that aforementioned book, but we’ll be running “Best of MBIP” posts on facecrack and Twitter to make up the lack of new posts.
