Meanwhile, Back In Peoria...

A Travel Blog In And Around The River City With Your Host, Marty Wombacher

April 4, 2024

Looking Backwards - The Thursday Post From The MBIP Past - This Week: We Look Back At December 12, 2012 - The Very First Post!

by MBIP

I’m going to start putting up posts from the past on most Thursdays for a little while. I took the month of February off to work on my forthcoming book, “Confessions of a Spiteful Writer” and got seven chapters written. Since I re-started the blog I haven’t made any more progress with it. So, I figure this will give me a little time to work on the book and I can also share a post that maybe you’ve never seen or have forgotten about.

I do have over twelve years of material to repost here! I can’t believe it’s been over twelve years for this blog and I thank each and every one of you who continues to tune in every day!

I thought for this first post from the past, we’d go all the way back to the very first post that I put up on December 10, 2012.

I had published three different blogs when I lived in New York City: A Guy Walks Into 365 Bars, Marty After Dark and Tripping With Marty.

I continued to update Tripping With Marty from Peoria, when I moved back here in October of 2012. As soon as I moved back I started working on a blog that I would do from Peoria and I decided to call it, “Meanwhile, Back In Peoria…” as kind of a joke for my New York friends and audience.

On 2010, I put up the link for my brand spanking new Peoria blog!

——

Welcome Tom My New Blog, Everybody!

I moved back to Peoria on October 18, 2012 and I was really nervous about coming back here. I wrote about that in this post and went and took some photos at Mike’s Tavern.

What I didn’t write about was how nervous I was about this blog. I had been successful with blogs in New York and knew in the beginning that a good chunk of the audience would be people who enjoyed those blogs. I also knew that a blog about Peoria wouldn’t sustain interest in a lot of these people and they’d drift away. I would need an audience of people in and around Peoria to keep this blog alive.

I thought if I did it for a year and had a decent audience I’d be happy.

Well, it’s been over twelve years and I’m beyond happy and thrilled that people still come here every day to look at this blog. If you’re one of those people, thanks so much. I truly appreciate you reading and being part of this blog and the community MBIP has created.

Here’s a link to the very first MBIP post: Welcome Tom My New Blog, Everybody!

Okay, I have to go work on my book now! See you all tomorrow!

Now I am starting over…

Surprise link, click on it…I dare you!
