One place you can always find a grilled cheese sandwich is at a diner.
So of course stop number six in this 23 week tour is going to happen at one of Peoria’s most popular diners, The 50’s Diner!
First we have to pick up this week’s grilled cheese guest star…and if you follow this blog, you know where this is going…
Straight to the owner of ACME Comics, the one and the only, Bob Gordon!
Great to see Bob and have him join us on this cheesy tour!
Here we are at The 50’s Diner. This diner has been in business since 1991, which is the same year Bob started ACME Comics, so it really makes sense him being this week’s guest star!.
And now we’re going to do a little something special here. Let me present…

The Women Of The 50’s Diner!
From the top, that’s Tammy, in the middle, left to right is: Missy, Emily and Corey and that’s Lauren at the bottom!
Very nice to meet these women and as you can see, everyone is super friendly and their smiles are gorgeous!
We placed our orders and Bob got a non-grilled cheese selection so we can have a little variety today.
Here’s some shots of the booths that line the walls. there’s a nice counter to sit and enjoy your food and there’s more tables and booths opposite the main dining room.
I love all the 50’s styled art and photos on the walls.
They also have a large gift area, if you need a last Easter present, this is the place for you!
Meanwhile, back at our booth…
Lunch has arrived!
Bob got a Mega Loosey Meal which come with fries and a drink and features the sandwich The 50’s Diner is famous for: The Loosey Sandwich.
As you can see, it’s a seasoned, loose meat hamburger sandwich and they don’t skip on that loose meat.
Bob said the sandwich was very tasty and satisfying. I’ve eaten here many times and never had a bad meal in here.
Okay, time to check out this week’s cheesy star…
The grilled cheese of the week!
You can get it plain, or there is an option to add ham or bacon. So of course I added both!
It was buttery, grilled to perfection and the cheese was creamy and rich and the ham and bacon took it over the top! A great grilled cheese!

The Cheesy Rating
(4 Slice Rating System)
It was yet another tasty grilled cheese and I’ll give it a very good rating of three and a quarter slices of cheese.
Thanks to B0b for joining me and to the wonderful women at The 50’s Diner for their great service and for posing for the MBIP Camera!
